It works fine on AT&T's network so long as you don't care about being on EDGE. That's how I've been using it since December.

It is slower than My iphone. Not much, but it seems I use the wifi alot and that works more seamlessly than the iphone.

You know what's funny is that the apple store in dallas recommends you turn off the 3g service in the iphone and switch to edge to get better voice reception.

According to this, only 2.5G?

Yep, only 2.5G. I have AT&T and my N900 reports that it is using 2.5G. FWIW, it works well at that speed. But I can bet that skype and SIP phoning are not going to be very happy at those throughputs.

Hmmm, I was told that AT&T will charge you 30USD for having data on your phone, even if your phone doesn't support 3G. They said that N900 is the smartphone and smartphones plan is 30 USD irrespective of whether your phone supports 3G or not. I asked how will they know that I am using the 15$( Quote me If I am wrong) 2G/2.5G plan on the N900 (smartphone) instead of the ATT cellphone( Free Phone which came with contract), then the agent told me that they can find out which phone their customers use and will accordingly charge 30USD instead of 15USD.

Any thoughts? Some of you seem to be using the 2.5g plan on N900, If I am not wrong.

Hmm, Did you try the Hong Kong version?

The Hong Kong N900 could be different since HK operates similar with AT&T band. So if Nokia release N900 over there, the 3G band could be different than the one release in USA :).

yes its 2.5G on ATT and im gonna tell you if you browser alot and watch videos online.. its sucks... when i was on att with 2.5g... its really slow... so i recommend to go with t-mo even they have spotty 3g spot... but with 3g on t-mo, it does what i need.
