It is the same as "closing a (modal) dialog", see page 26 of your manual. So it is documented!

This method is also known as the "Harry Potter trick", because it's almost magical! Too bad one would need a magic stick to do it...

Guys, I know most of us probably already found that way (to be honest I don't really know another way to return from the 'More' screen to the general, first screen) but it looks like RetoPMWF is new to the forums, maybe even new to the N900, and come on... wasn't _every_ new find with your N900s a great find to you guys? ;)

I think it's quite honorable that he thought to share his knowledge with us, if it really were a new way it'd be a great find to us all now... (just to be clear, this isn't meant in a sarcastic way, I mean what I say here!)

It's just too bad it wasn't all that new (if it is documented nowhere, that is - to say the least - quite odd, by the way!)

Thanks Pfuh3z. Before that I used the power button, then clicked outside the box.
And yes, I am new to the forum and quite new to the N900. I see this board is quite active. If I post a question in the future, it will be nice to get so many fast replies

Since you might ask questions... PLEASE oh PLEASE search this site using the search feature on top or the Power Search and also check the Maemo wiki before posting your question... I am telling you this now so you won't get flamed afterwards... since you're new here..

Also welcome to TMO... :)

You know I don't blame you for this. Before I purchased the device I was under a similar impression. And why? Engadget. One of the largest online tech sites reviews this beast and the reviewer clearly knew sh*t. He used the phone for probably less than an hour and wrote a rubbish review where he called the device "unpolished" and only really for "geeks".

He kept repeating he couldnt believe you have to press the power button to go back to the main screen. If you have sites like engadget spreading ill information why are we surprised that newcomers are learning the full potential this late?

Endgadget was asked by its users to re-do the whole review - you simply cannot review a device of this much brilliance when the user doesnt understand how to use the menu system (iphone user perhaps?).

There were other flaws with his reviewing method too but this one stood out to me as the most important.

@ RetoPMWF and afaq, I didn't even know you could get back using the power button, thanks! And it is indeed quite horrible to have a "tech blog" that big make mistakes like that...

Just re-read the Review!!! WTF!! Engadget seems to not have used any phone other than the iphone.. I LOVED the "tap empty to return" and this guy brands it a "quirky" and "unpolished"!!!!
