everyone using n900 are invited to post their suggestion regarding 'hiding/locking conversations' on this thread...

programmers are requested to come up with some genuine solution..

You are right...this minimum duration of 5 mins is not what we want or what we xpect from a power house like the n900

privacy is what we want from a mobile computer:rolleyes:

An app that can

1) lock the the whole conversations app(or multiple apps)
2) lock/filter sms from particular contacts:p
3) Asks for PIN when a sms pops up after the lock has enabled

some one plz try to figure this out:(

thats what i came up with, although its a mod, not an app, you need rootsh 1.5, and winscp or mc to move the files, when its set up it stops conversations from opening, but it wont stop new sms from arriving

Re: hide and lock msg / messeges / sms in n900

Well, While I had been using my N95, I used to have a neat app called "call and sms guard" or somethin like this. The features were,
1. Blacklisted callers or sms senders (Contact Numbers in this list will have their calls cut the moment it reaches your phone and their sms will be deleted without question)
2. Baby List (Contacts in this list will have all their misscalls removed from the phones call logs and moved instantly to another log that is maintained within the application. Same with the Sms)
3. File Encryption.

I think all that will be required is the second point stated above. I know that this is linux based maemo and their are limitations to it. Hope some genius maemo programmer comes up with a whole new source code that will make this device,UNSTOPPABLE :P.

You should stop having affairs.

Re: hide and lock msg / messeges / sms in n900

not everyone is having an affair, some of us have a psycho ex girlfriend that wont take no for an answer! and id rather never know that she has called or txt me, also i get lots of txts and calls from idiots all day long trying to sell me a business phone contract, when i could be taking calls for actual jobs, (im self employed)
Mcleaner was great for this on symbian, but i read in a thread like this one a few months ago, that developing an app that needs access to the 'telephone' part of the phone (to filtter calls) is so difficult that its just not gonna happen, gutted really

Well thats one way of seeing the use of this "fictitious would be app". But like Leetut states about callers bugging etc and no way to stop em, this is also another prospective which ppl really would appreciate. Well, take me for example. I work as a Systems Engineer for Microsoft. I get approximately 15 - 20 calls per day from my client companies. So what happens s that in the midst of some serious workwhen an ***** calls you up and starts, sir do you have insurance, this isvery special plan blah blah, or, hello you need a credit card? or maybe everyday you end up getting some caller who says that he is lookin for the same guy everyday and eveytime he calls.... Well there is always a positive and negative side to everything. So, lets weigh this requirement and I would say, we would end up with more positivity. Later.
