yes, I hope alfa can finally find a solution for the prepaid users to use GPRS instead of WAP.

i'm still not sure that the mtc connection works, cz on their site they say WAP settings. And GPRS connection is a totally different thing for them

Re: To all Lebanese N900 users

So i called mtc and i think i got a good answer this time:
-If you have a prepaid line you can get the WAP (5$ for 25mb) but it will only work for browsing, the application can't be able to use the internet.
-If you have a postpaid line you have two options. You can get the WAP service for 5$ a month but with unlimited browsing only. Or you can get the GPRS service that works with all the apps on the N900.
The guy told me that when you activate the connection by sending the msg you have to call them and tell them that you have an n900 and you've activated internet service so they will send your settings by mail.

that's great news ahmadamaj, I hope alfa will have the same service in the near future concerning prepaid WAP.

Re: To all Lebanese N900 users (about internet services from MTC and Alfa)

ok.... first of all i am surprised, i never knew anyone in lebanon that has the n900 besides me, what a great device, it should be more popular, anyway i'm 16 and i live in zgarta.
lets get tot he point, the n900 supports wap, well it supports edge connection and... in the uk, australia, ...... and edge is something close to wap.
so yes u can get wap, but it would be awesome to get gprs or unlimited data wap for 5att manno sebbit .
i mean its only 20 or 25 mb, over my house wifi, i need more than 100 mb everyday usage from my n900, yesterday i was downloading some apps, and i ended up with 500 mb !!!!!!!!!! and i use youtube a lot .
and this is not an old crappy nokia, this is a full browsing phone, so watching one youtube video in the browser or looking up the facebook page twice a day, can take 10 mb everyday, unless you can use the opera mobile with opera turbo and mobile view and... but as you guys said it won't supports apps :( .
i heard that vodaphone is on its way to our contry (a couple of my friends already have a vodaphone number working in lebanon with gprs internet) so maybe if vodaphone comes we can have 3g connections on our phones (or at least 2.5 g), with 500mb to 2gb every month, thats sounds good .
and i almost forgot screw alfa and mtc for the crappy internet services, my uncle in australia pays 10 $ every months for unlimited 3g connection (its super fast ).
and by the way i have my device overclocked at 850 mhz any of you guys managed to do that ?????

Re: To all Lebanese N900 users (about internet services from MTC and Alfa)

N900 is a "very popular" phone in Lebanon by the way.
The internet services from MTC and Alfa are intended to be used for IM, email and maybe some browsing. even with opera mobile anyone can spend more than 25mb a month.
What about vodaphone?! more info if you have.

Re: To all Lebanese N900 users (about internet services from MTC and Alfa)

my n900 is overclocked using x-terminal it takes only a couple of minutes . and most of the time its running at 850 mhz, when i want to tweak arround and have some fun i go 1 ghz in less than 30 sec .
vpdaphone is trying to get to lebanon since 2008 or something like that, its just that the ****ing politics won't let it come, its still trying to come, if it did, and the vodaphone services they will be using here are the same as they use it in other contries, than lucky us, fast unlimited internet (or if limited it should be more than 512 mb ), and the prices should be not bad, but thats wh they don't want it to come because than alfa and mtc will loose a lots of money .
and by the way if im is used (like my case) for msn, facebook, skype, and ovi chat, than it will take a lot out of the 20/25 mb, and for emailling one video attachement can take 10 mb .
maybe if using opera than it should be good, but that is no fun at all, browsing full web pages in microB is just damm better .
and i don't know a lots of people with a nokia n900 in lebanon....
and if u need the internet that bad out of the house, try connecting to a free wifi, if not get aircrack from the devels and than u can hack wep/wpa1/wpa2 from the n900 its not easy at all, and it takes time.
i say maybe be alfa/mtc should make apecial offers for us : 200 mb of gprs internet every months for 15 $ or less .
