Re: N900-Is the Basic Telephony Feature being compromised?
this is the issue that am starting to understand........i always play with my n900, and it pisses me off when someone calls and breaks what i am doing.....so i got a cheaper phone for my primary line where all the people can call me everytime 24/7 and my n900 as my secondary line (which only me and my mom knows the number).

The N900 is an internet tablet, with added phone functionality. Not the other way around ;) |
Re: N900-Is the Basic Telephony Feature being compromised?
Well to me the honest and official Nokia answer to this question has always been: Yes.
The strengths of the N900 lie elsewhere besides telephony. |
Re: N900-Is the Basic Telephony Feature being compromised?
Whilst I appreciate this happens to all smart phones to a greater/lesser extent. I think I like that android at least has a system with a chance to handle things properly.
as a developer, I'd rather have to develop within a framework accepting that my app might get killed at any second, to enable better responsiveness of the phone. As it is I have no constriants, or even guidance on how to make my app a 'good citizen' that won't contribute too badly to issues answering calls. |
Re: N900-Is the Basic Telephony Feature being compromised?
I guess the answer is yes, how important that is to you only you can decide. I very rarely make or receive calls, so it's not an issue.
However if my job / personal life absolutely required me to be available 24/7 then the N900 is probably not the best device, the battery life for one. If that was the case I'd get a dedicated SIM card and a Nokia 1100 (400hrs standby time) |

Looking at it now - any ideas how to prioritise the phone ? Cheers, Nate. |
