I would wait a few more months since Gingerbread (Android OS 3.0J will be coming then. Might as well wait the few months and then get the newest hardware and operating system rather than wait and see if Samsung will upgrade you to it or not. Of course the Galaxy S has a growing group of hackers so there's always unofficial.

i cant compare the n900 from other devices. having the n900 is such a different experience :)

Nah, I think Google has plans to address the fragmentation that is beginning to happen.

I would wait a few more months for the MeeGo phone/s to come out. At the least, it could only be better than the N900 with better hardware than anything that's being sold currently.

If it's coming from Nokia I wouldn't bother. They're like Samsung (although rumor is Samsung might be changing their behavior) when it comes to support of their hardware.
