Re: nokia x3-02 touch and type announced
Really want this phone as a nice secondary or even primary phone. The more I look at my usage habits I rarely need a mobile computer *all the time* I'm hoping for a nice 7 to 9 inch Meego Tablet to toss in a bag and a secondary small phone only device to carry. If the camera is at least as good/ok as the N900 then this is it. The only thing missing is GPS, but I rarely use that anyway.

I like this, can see lots of keyboard only T9ers migrating to touch and type.
So what is it that you can do with your smart phone that you cant do with this ? |

Although QVGA is kinda tiny, that shouldn't be a huge issue, since S40 (and apps designed for it, e.g. Opera Mobile) fits nicely on much smaller screens. I do wonder what the web browser will be like. Anyway, I could definitely see grabbing this (or rather a T-mo USA version of this) as a modem if my next handheld computer doesn't have a phone built in. |

The evil giant empire Nokia strike back again with a shiity old S40 lol. Nokia when will you going to learn to make an iPhone killer phone? But the price for this X3 is very low and it's equipped with 5Mp camera too.

Re: nokia x3-02 touch and type announced
nokia named various versions of interface/os using S**. I think they started out with S10 or S20 for their B/W LCD nmt and gsm phones, then moved on to S40, then licensed symbian and created S60 (and a brief S70, or S50, that they used as the basis for the maemo1-4 ui).
strange btw, as i thought nokia's stated plan was to drop S40 and use S60 on all non-maemo/meego products. |
Re: nokia x3-02 touch and type announced
Err... no. The long term plan, yes, but 2010 and 2011 has still a fair share of S40. if every year they go lower a notch with symbian, then it's still 3-4 years until it's fully phased out (though it will probably never be FULLY phased out because of 1100 like phones)
