OK my sources are from here http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/01/c...-and-800mhz-c/ and http://www.tomsguide.com/us/T-Mobile...news-7911.html
Some more info about the device specs
  • The operating system is Android 2.2 no HTC Sense
  • The device will be capable of running adobe flash 10.1
  • The device will have a 3.7inch oled capacitive Touchscreen
  • It will have a four row qwery keyboard with three programmable shortcut buttons
  • It will have an 800mhz Qualcomm Scorpion. Please keep in mind the Scorpion processor has the new Adreno 205 gpu. So the processor needed to be underclocked for the faster GPU
  • Will probably be released September 29th
  • Will have 4g through hspa+
  • the camera is a 5mp camera with led flash and autofocus. the camera is essentially the same camera we have had on phones for years.
  • The device can record and playback 720p hd video
  • Has the standard wifi, GPS, and Bluetooth 2.1

Judging by the icons on them (three boxes, with one of each box enlarged in each one), my guess is that maybe it's for navigating something? Maybe to make switching desktops easier or something? Seems silly, if they are.

I wouldn't mind something like that rather than shortcut buttons. I've missed the ability to easily switch between screens in Diablo. But I realize I'm in the minority. Most optimally, they will be completely customizable so we can make them do whatever we want.

Yeah the device seems great. I really like how thin the device is considering the roomy keyboard. The battery is excellent 6.5hours of talktime over 3g and 16.5days of standby time.

Im sorry if I offend you guys, im sure this phone will work well for you...

Does anyone think this is just another android phone with a keyboard? What's special about it? Everything seems average, with a possibly below-average camera...

EDIT: by all means, its solid. but nothing really stands out as amazing. maybe im wearing nokia colored hardware-feature-packed-phone glasses?

Well for the camera megapixelds doesn't necessarily determine the photo quality I always wait to see sample photos or video. It is an Android phone with a keyboard, but it isn't half baked.

What you will see is how much everyone wish they android phone was like the G2 since it runs plain android which means updates quicker no need to wait months for carriers to add there bloatware to the update. And no senses to bog down the OS. And I saw the benchmark test today by far the fastest android phone on the market. Which i was suprised seeing its only 800mhz but its underclocked for a reason. My n900 wont be forgotten it will be my cool linux tablet from now on and sometimes will use it as my phone.

That's GPU from the comparision images I've seen. Not CPU.

Okay? So what are you trying to say? I know the GPU is the reason its clocked at 800mhz.

I think the phones coming clocked in at 1 Ghz (though the whole snapdragon versus the different Android phone chips confuses me) would be faster than the G2 at 800 mhz. Though it's probably not a significant difference. But I don't think it would be the fastest phone on the market. Especially if the benchmarks are comparing a 2.2 G2 versus a 2.1 say Samsung Vibrant given the optimizations Google made in Froyo.
