Both show different values: one says 1241 mAh the other one 1244 mAh So i REALY doubt the battery tells the value. If this value is somehow stored in a chip i would expect it to be 1st - exact the same in every battery 2nd - at least somewhat close to the value they say it has. Anyway - the battery powers the n900 for aprox. 120mins with a radio stream turned on. (screen off!) I'll try with the original Battery the next days. If i remember right, this is pretty much the same time. So the battery has probably the same power the original has - and therefore is FAR from the 1930mAh the seller (e_cell) claims it has! I'll write again in some days when i have some comparison to the original. |
Re: Need a new battery
it's not stored digitally in a chip, it's stored in analog form in a resistor. the phone measures the resistance on oot and translates the resistance into a capacity value. Because it's analog, it will vary a bit each time it gets measured.
this effect is seen with first batch mugen 2400mAh. They have a thermistor instead of a resistor. A thermistor has resistance like a resistor, but the resistance varies with temperature. Thus, the reported design capacity with the mugen 2400 varies wildly depending on the battery temperature at boot. (omething like 17-20C gets close to 1300mAh.. Booting a body temperature mugen shows 500ish mAh design capacity... |
Re: Need a new battery
Right - update as promised:
The "1900" mAh Battery sold by e-cell via ebay has LESS than the original 1320 mAh from Nokia. In othe words - it's fraud. ------------------------ details ----------------------- 1st the batteries itself claim to have ~1240mAh - so even the producer of the battery didn't store a value even remotly close to the one claimed by the seller! 2nd I tested the battery by turning on 3g & streaming a Radio station. Lasts for approx 120mins. Compared to the 1/2 year old original: Lasts for approx. 150+mins The test was done in the same location (same connection) with the same Radio station (presumabley the same bits/s) So if you buy - don't buy this battery. It's not worth the money. |
