try disabling the tracker before going to format your card .
please note that you will not be able to use your sdcard in windows , if you format it as ext2 . if you use linux then nothing to worry about , easiest way to format your sdcard is using gparted . |

Just a word of advice... If your always/often/sometimes/rarely go face to face with windows think twice on converting it to ext3 :)
If your linux then go ahead. There's a reason why portable storage uses fat32. |
