Re: UI Size, opinions
Regarding this, the physical geometric aspect of the N900 was already done correctly, you got a screen you can easilly thumb everywhere, but it also has a high resolution and for the smaller things programs might put on screen you got the stylus (not to mention that using resistive touch interface allows for an increase in precision and you can use pretty much any pointy thing with it)

Re: UI Size, opinions
I just wish we had an option to drop everything about 10 pixels. I've used systems with smaller displays and lower/higher pixel densities, worked fine for me.
The reason Windows Mobile sucked at navigation was because it wasn't originally made to be used with a touchscreen. |
Re: UI Size, opinions
Agreed, the UI is too big for my liking, especially microb toolbar.
Surely this can be done by modifying the hildon-home source code? |
Re: UI Size, opinions
I agree with TiagoTiago, but, I do think the microb toolbar is a little big.

Re: UI Size, opinions
ok, wm is on one end, but I would like to be able to choose. Even have modes. The N900 (as the N800 did) can distinguish between finger and stylus presses. So why not dual mode? Press a finger on the screen and UI becomes big and fat. Use the stylus and you are back to diablo looks, or even better, gnome.

Re: UI Size, opinions
How can it detect the difference? The pressure sensitivity?
|
Re: UI Size, opinions
Yes, I don't know technical details but the N800 showed a different on-screen keyboard upon stylus or finger press, and on MyPaint on N900, for some brushes the difference is more than obvious (when drawing with the finger the brush is wide while when drawing with the stylus the pressure varies the opacity, not the width)
