Its a shame we don't have a pretty and polished UI.

I love maemo, but it's not a polished as I did expect.

I think UI is polished than any other existing UI...

If a pretty UI was the main driving force, we wouldn't have laggy kinetic scrolling.

That's wronger than wrong. Else we'd have 30 to 60 FPS kinetic scrolling and transitions wouldn't slow down the phone. There is a way to enable hardware sync for transitions, which is off by default, but it actually slows down the phone.

Fact is, hildon-desktop is powered by the processor, the Cortex. Nothing else. That's why I want to surround my N900 with M60 firecrackers, the UI isn't as nice as the promo videos showed it off as, and UI is very important to me. Damn you HPalm, release WebOS to a decent looking phone!

Go read the code, the transitions are handled by GLESv2 and Clutter.

For anyone who's interested, it can be done by turning "WSEGL_UseHWSync=0" in /ect/powervr.d/hildon-desktop.ini from 0 to 1.
It makes everything smooth but causes instability.

what do you mean with instability?some glitches and bugs?or reboots?

Random freezes that require reboot while using dropdown menus.
