Having such low minimum will worsen the responsiveness of the phone.
Increase the minimum to at least 500MHz to notice the improvement.
I personally use 1000 min 1000 max. But not recommended for all. =P

What do you use this for? Are you running lot's of high intensity processes or do you just want the extra responsiveness.

Personally I leave it at stock 99% of the time. I only overclock when gaming or watching flash and even then 850mhz is as far as I go

I just use it for extra responsiveness really. I don't really do much gaming and mostly just browse the web using MIcroB. So I want it to be as responsive as I can get it to be. It doesn't really use any extra battery from what I've noticed either.

Others have mentioned swappolube as an important aspect to increasing the apparent speed of your N900. Transition Control is another program that can add to the snappiness of the UI. Swappolube changes how the N900 handles information. Transition Control handles how the N900 UI makes transitions. Overclocking, swappolube and Transition Control are the ABC of making the N900 appear to to and actually, run faster.

Do you notice a lot more heat? the main reason I keep mine at stock is that I don't want to fry it

Swappoluble sucks. I get plenty of reboot with it. Also its vm-memory parameters are mediocre. Please try my script and compare it to swappoluble. Also my script has a built-in firewall and traffic-sharing algorithm. It makes the internet faster. Look at my signature for the dl address.
