Re: Help! Wife accidently dumps N900 in sink
My wife recently drenched her 1 month C6-01 in her bag going to the movies. The phone couldn't work - phone could call out, but gets disconnected everytime. And I couldn't call to that phone. Sounds failed (even that Nokia start up tune). After some attempts, the phone totally failed and would not even start!
I removed the battery and blow dry the phone with a hair dryer from inside (careful not to get too hot - you might fry some circuits, and also since the C6-01 had metal casing you could fry your hands). I also tried leaving the phone in some rice (as recommended) for a couple of hours only, since it was already late in the evening and I just couldn't wait to see the outcome and fate of that MYR 1,000 phone (that's about 170 BigMacs). Now it's working without any problem. Thank God! Hopefully, your N900 will survive it. Let us know. |
Re: Help! Wife accidently dumps N900 in sink
Went out and bought a bag of white rice (since we only seem to have flavored rice in the house) and now my phone is in tupperware. Hopefully it does the trick.
Just as an embarrassing note, I did try to boot the phone before reading the updates here and it did start the boot cycle, so I'm more than hopeful that it will work. In hindsight, I agree that it was kinda dumb to try booting it up so soon. |
Re: Help! Wife accidently dumps N900 in sink
Now I have a question...after soaking the phone in rice, is it safe to consume the rice?
I only dipped the phone in a tray of rice, so it wasn't a lot to dispose off. But, what do you all feel? Would you consume the rice after using it to absorb moisture off an electromagnetic device? |
Re: Help! Wife accidently dumps N900 in sink
hope the rice works for you.. next time make sure not to put the battery back in so soon after..

Re: Help! Wife accidently dumps N900 in sink
Sorry to hear that but you made a terrible mistake and permanently damaged the circuits :( NEVER ever turn on a fully soaked electronic device without drying it properly with methods mentioned here ( rice container , heat , 24 hours battery out off etc)

For OP's case, he got a bag of rice and using a tupperware to dry his phone. Seems waste to throw away that quantity of rice. |
