Have you actually used Android? For all the hype it receives, it's really not a vector for the type of crowd that is attracted to the N900. It's closed, restrictive, and frustrating to use in comparison to Maemo.

I bought "Linux" - not Nokia. If another entity releases a device with better specs and similar or better system level access, that's where I'll go.

I'd wager the majority of us see Android as a pretty big step down.

I don't much care what Nokia do or don't, at the present time there are no other tablets that quite do what I want, but I'm patient, I can wait. Whoever fills the void, well, they get the money.

Just as important, Are we getting the update when it launches? (If launched at all)

I'm concerned it wont, look at the previous generations of N7-9XX :(
