CMT = cellular modem terminal. My phone can no longer receive any telephone signals, and such is not actually a phone anymore. I actually pointed this out in my first post.

I strongly recommend you understand what you are talking about before commenting.

I can give you a 100 definitions for CMT and the one i used was just one of them.

Re: Repurposing old N900s

cool acronyms bro

Anyway, I've been considering using it as a server of some description; perhaps a webDAV server? You know, given the whole "now running a Symbian phone" thing. Realistic expectations?

@ abill_uk

There are probably only two or three of those *CMT= that could possibly be pertinent to the inner workings of a mobile computer/phone device.

You can get a MIFI and use it outdoors using VOIP for phone functions

It is sad to read the thread title as it brings us closer to the thoughts of the N900 is no good as a mobile phone no more when there is so much development ongoing for this device... oh well so sad.

It's obvious to me that the OP is simply saying his device is not a functioning phone any more: not that the N900 (in general) is a lost cause...

Personally, I would choose to continue using the N900 as a portable games (pandora-esque) machine :)

So far, you are the only one to have misunderstood the thread title. I got it, and quoting countless irrelevant acronyms for CMT just makes you look childish.

OP, you'e got a few suggestions there. Do you have a technological gap you could use a wifi N900 to fill? Like a media server, wifi access point, portable gaming, etc.
