Good work, feurigel, thank you! It would be awesome if app list was sorted alphabetically. Second handy improvement would be implementing a search input.

Please, add a warning about deleting All category: after deleting it I couldn't start basic Maemo apps like Contacts, Phone, Pictures, etc., so I'm sure they depend on their own menu icon.

I restored my system from backup, but finding the actual reason was tricky: there were no error messages in syslog.

Good work.

You could ask to be the maintainer of the packages in order to upload your new versions to Extras Devel.

Or just, y'know, submit a patch to the original author. *cough*

Yes, there are hideous bugs in Hildon Desktop which mean care must be taken when editing the freedesktop.org menu file.

Care which Catorise takes.

I suggest that people who want to go hacking around are familiar with disabling the reboot watchdog; happy with reflashing or can read Catorise's source and commit log to see why it does what it does.

Thanks for the report. I will look up once. Maybe can I fix this.

Otherwise, you can create the category like this:

Code:

Name: ai_category_all
Icon: app_install_all

Click "save" and it works.

Update for catorise

With this update for catorise, it works now correct with a deleted "all"-category. Now you can start applications like "phone", "pictures" and other.

Download is in first post.

Update (but not for application, only for installation method)

You can use the new .deb files to upgrade the original catorise from 0.8.2 and original catorise gui from 0.2. I hope that work fine.

For safety, please save the file "/opt/catorise/menu" before. Please tell me if it works.

Download is in first post. Sourcecode also.

I will ask the original authors, if they can update the packages on maemo testing.

Doh!

I have to say I thought he had tried that before ...

Raise a bug containing a patch. I may ask you to change it if it doesn't conform to my coding standards or the implementation is sub-optimal and/or dangerous.

BTW, your patches will need to be rebased against 0.9.0 which I've finally released. This keeps track of changes better to prevent unnecessary work when installing or upgrading apps.
