How about Nook Simple touch. (run android but u need to root it to be able to do more)

Cheap :-)

Battery:
2 months with Wifi Off
3 weeks with Wifi on. (i suppose moderate usage)

Supported file formats include EPUB (DRM and non-DRM), PDF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, and BMP

What about toshiba thrive?
It isn't e-ink. but it's a long battery, AFAIK

USB port, without charging? It's really acer's huge mistake.

Galaxy Tab 7" - optimal size (for me).

ive owned the xoom for 2 weeks now and have yet to go a day without putting it down. even 2 hours playing pocket ledgends on wifi barely used like 10% battery. its awsome and 32gb storage for same price as the 16gb tabs. guy at store i bought it from like xoom also on many features but he said he would get the toshiba mainly for the usb ports. other than that he would go the xoom. btw easy to root wifi and fix ad-hoc for wifi tether. i have mine tethered to my n900 just fine via wifi.

HTC flyer if you want 7 inch or Lenovo thinkpad tab or Asus transformer if you want 10 inch.
