I am quite impressed with the performance of firefox on the N9. This version is a big improvement.

Also I noticed Firefox allows you to browse your devices file structure through a windows like dialog box (which the native browser does not support). I struggled to upload a photo but the functionality is there.

In fact reading all this "Fennec will support this os and that framework"...

I would not mind having a device booting straight into Firefox.
Firefox add ons section being the app store.
What would be the price of Java overhead on today's dual core / 1GB devices?

I would mind. It's one the reasons why we do have dual core/1GB devices. As a browser it's ok, I can restart it when it has eaten up all my RAM and 2GB swap, but I don't want to have that leaky resource hog as my OS, I already have one.

My boss likes to talk about the Moore's law. Lately he's started to add "The Great Moore’s Law Compensator" to that arsenal.

I was wondering if there was anyway to load the full version of gmail with fennec and likely regular firefox plug-ins with it. The basic html version doesn't allow for landline calls (hence it might require the plug-in) and google voice doesn't seem to be an option here in Canada.

Making landline calls requires using Google Talk plugin, which Google released for x86/x86_64 architecture. I don't think ARM versions of this plugin are available. So far calls aren't going through JavaScript VM, so without a plugin - it won't work. In some future, JavaScript VoIP will mature, and Google is planning to use it: http://code.google.com/p/webrtc/
Not quite yet though.

Anyone else having an inability to load the libxpcom.so library when trying to launch Firefox on the n9?
