Re: The grand IPK sharing thread
If you run it fully (covering in-prog ads) there should not be a problem (or running hacked/rooted os would also be). If you get all functionality on different hw, who cares? It is available for dl at one place or another (unless the place was living from ads, but can't imagine ovi store living of ads, or the webos marketplace doing it). No value lost, more users (possible income), single 'free' devs/authors opposing could be just removed

Re: The grand IPK sharing thread
My acquaintance lawyer says it should be legal. (not 100% but should be). So says my another friend who is into IT.
I think this thread should be no more frozen. I think we'll follow the szopin's idea. And one more restriction: upload HAS TO mention the original download page! |
Re: The grand IPK sharing thread
Take a look at any 'free' (open source) license. If you're not changing the code you are free to distribute, just keep the license with it. Repackaging something for maemo and keeping to those steps is 100% legally ok. Take a look at pandora. Guys are repackaging things like (http://boards.openpandora.org/index....in-first-post/) where license clearly states:
You may freely use, modify, and distribute both the FB Alpha source code and binary, however the following restrictions apply to the FB Alpha original material (see below for a list of libraries with differing licenses, please consult their respective documentation for more information): * You may not sell, lease, rent or otherwise seek to gain monetary profit from FB Alpha; * You must make public any changes you make to the source code; * You must include, verbatim, the full text of this license... So, pandora guys are explicitly breaking it making only binaries of modified code available. If they got the code out we would have the same goodies, but nevermind the license. Maemo community at least respects authors' wishes. |
Re: The grand IPK sharing thread
I may have a bit free time this month.
If I had a chess.com app (>=1.2.5) I could try to do a little porting. Maybe MicroB / Chromium will be able to use mojo EDIT: I found v1.0.1 http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mfgozyynjz0 |
