Or don't. As freemangordon said there are easier ways to fry your N900, for example putting it in a pan of hot oil.

900MHz is already a 50% overclock a very questionable. Furthermore, smart reflex only works up to 900MHz reliably. Jakiman's guide, while very good is now somewhat outdated and the methods used are depreciated.

This is all really great info guys i really apreciate the help and advice given going to make the big push tonight and install the cssu testing.If i get stuck i will be back here for help my device was new and made in finland from hongkong it looks new and genuine. I havent really installed anything on it since i had it so going to instal cssu over it.

Just a quick question is meego not another option to upgrade or is it not stable?

One reason to flash it at the start as vi's excellent instructions recommended, is that knowing how to flash it is part of your essential toolkit. Nothing is more pathetic than a little note that whispers (how do I fix x without flashing) in a tone that makes it clear that the OP thinks flashing is a fate worse than death, when it is often the fastest and easiest solution.

Ok I have flashed with no problems testing cssu now I need a good kernel am I good to install Linux kernel for power users or is that a bad idea.

i will actually reflash my N900 over Easter & install Pali's Pwr Kernel (most likely v50) but NOT CSSU.
CSSU added to PK (i had v49 without CSSU before, but can't believe v50 would make such a diff.) has made my device very unresponsive & freezing very often :mad:
