The commercial needs a better tag line, instead of "quietly brilliant" try...

"HTC One... Worth stealing"

Personally, I like it. It certainly has a more viral feel to it, being on a budget and all. The MGS reference made me laugh, would be nice to see more of that.

I would say get rid of the Jail scene at the end because we know he gets caught and it does not need to be shown what happens to him. The viewers can guess that IMO.

As for the mgs scene, maybe you could have a few more people turn their heads and take their phones out when they here the siren, as if to show them as drones? It would help to re-enforce the sci-fi theme and you don't have give everyone HTC's as they will be in the distance.

Sorry, I have just realised that is a whole re-shoot ;)

Actually, it's a no-budget video :p we didn't had any budget to make this video :D
About the title: I can't change anything about it :( competition rules..
About the camera and the jail part: the deadline was today, so I can't change anything about it anymore...
The jail part: it was just a funny idea to show the sad face of the thief :p

The only good parts were: MGS sounds, HTC ringtone on the end.

#1 - Camera segment, he missed the button several times
#2 - Thats not a jail, but I guess it'll do

...it just needs a better directoring, besides that it isn't too shabby

Well, about the camera part:
He took pictures while he already was recording a video.
Yes, taking video WHILE you're recording :p it's possible with that phone... (Any way to make this also possible on the N9/N950?)

Let's add all the guards in a mall on Facebook! Also loved the Solid Snake sounds when he gets caught.
It's not the best commercial, but good for some laughs ;)
