sorry guys for this question but i dont want to start a thread for it.
how can i compress a file with tar ? ( with x-terminal on N900 )
i have xarchiver and cant copress any file i always get errors
DONE USING FILE-ROLER BUT I STILL WANT THE COMMAND BECAUSE I LOVE X-TERMINAL

TAR only packs files together. GZIP (or BZIP2) actually compress files.

Usually you pack files together as a .tar file and then compress the .tar file to a .tar.gz (or .tgz) file.

(or just google "man tar").

As an example, if you have a directory called "packme" and you want to pack it you'd do:

Now the same with tar+gzip:

, somehow got lost when i uninstaled android with automatic uninstaler so all the titles are now ****ed up, for instance the clock shows wdgt_va_24h_time instead of the actual time

locale lost only Algeria and my destop in here

glad to see that there are still new users of the N900. I've had mine for more than two yrs and even tho I have a N9, I still get amazed by this device!
