I'm pretty sure that you are crossing legal boundaries here. After a quick glance, at least opera-mobile could get you in trouble; because it's not GPL / similar open license but proprietary IP, and you do not have the distribution rights. Also, depending on what & and how you want to distribute, with very high probability you will include one or more files where Nokia owns the rights.

Ah :(
true.. It is a form of distribution.

Sharing basically equals distribution / as mentioned is a form of - and just refer to all the legal cases regarding P2P, where even one shared file could strip you of 100k, to be paid to the MAFIAA and their counselors.

I think Nokia stuff is not all GPL'ed and would have an issue with it being distributed.. but i'm not sure.

I wouldn't until someone can prove you can :(
Sadly i doubt that'll happen.

It was an interesting idea.. having a distro for a phone for different types.. emulating, hacking, light or heavy distros.

Just forget about distributing the backupmenu tarballs up here. All the software's readily available via the community repository.

Instead, create a space-delimited file composed of programs you've installed, and distribute that.

End-users who want to quickly get up to speed can simply use that list to install essentials quickly.

Code:

cat applist.txt | xargs sudo apt-get install
