Re: [Announce] Updated sqlite3 for Fremantle
Any reason not to go straight for sqlite3 3.7.13?
Edit: Your updated sqlite3 works like a charm. Thanks a lot! |

Re: [Announce] Updated sqlite3 for Fremantle
Any values about the performance compared to stock?
Regarding CSSU and repos - sqlite3 is in Nokia repos, not in extras, see here: http://maemo.org/packages/view/sqlite3/ The way packages in Nokia repos are updated is through CSSU. Now, your concern about autobuilder is absolutely valid, but there should be some solution. You'd better ask the council on how to deal with that instead of continuing with creating mess in extras-devel by uploading system libraries. |

Is there any way I can get this package into CSSU? Thanks for the info about CSSU. I'll ask council about the autobuilder issues. |
Re: [Announce] Updated sqlite3 for Fremantle
i can confirm it is good (sqlite3) now scrolling in old conversation history is faster and no problems for now

Re: [Announce] Updated sqlite3 for Fremantle
tracker and hildon-thumbnail are among the packages depending on libsqllite3 so mediaplayer and gallery might be worth comparing.
osso-abook depends on it but i think it is more to do with accounts/availability. |

I'm using only Open Media Player, but it seems to read albums/tracks faster. With "Photos" app, I didn't notice any improvement nor deterioration. With web browser, I noticed a hang sometimes when filtering stuff from history (while typing in the initial page with bookmarks), but this may be due to not cleaned private data. I'll clean 'em and see whether this persists. Browser overall seems to load PC pages a little better but this may be deceptive. |

osso-abook seems to be berkeley (or at least not sqlite3). Edit: oops, didn't see the message from droll (http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...6&postcount=12). |
Re: [Announce] Updated sqlite3 for Fremantle
The Council is not in charge of CSSU. It is a community project, but it's up to their maintainers to decide what to include in CSSU.
So to include any system package in CSSU, you must first ask MohammadAG and/or merlin1991 if they are willing to include it. Best way to include anything in CSSU seems to be through IRC communication with actual maintainers (expect some resistance, however). The only question that The Council is able to deal with, is about the possibility to add dependencies with CSSU packages in Extras applications. That has been proposed previously, and seems quite reasonable, as it will allow app developers to use updates libraries such as Qt and others. Unfortunately, up to now we haven't had too much control over autobuilder and repositories and every time we had tried to fix any issue, it took ages. This is something that should be improved with the movement to self sustained infrastructure and with the new community OBS, however, do not expect it to happen very soon. My personal view on this thing is that if you join the CSSU team, more underliying libraries and core components could be upgraded in a cleaner way. Definitively, upgrading this stuff via Extras is not a sane path. |
