I have tried all flavours of "clear device"/"restore settings"/reflash/manual rm... and nothing helps. I deduce, that the fault is at the side of skype central servers or some kind of protocol change/incompatibility.

I hadn't used Skype for a long time, but today I talked to someone in India for a long time and it worked great. My old contacts were there, and I had no problem adding her as a new contact.

Yep, my skype also works flawlessly, its strange , maybe fw cause it? Different region?

Nokia N9 (meego) is a great phone! but the software has yet to be fixed. . Let's not rush the recommendations for other phones ;)
the problem with my skype contacts in the region to use is - Europe .

nexthuman89 i tried replying again to your PM but strangely the system doesn't allow me to reply to you anymore...

in terminal just type the following:

gconftool --recursive-unset /system/http_proxy
gconftool --recursive-unset /system/proxy
gconftool --recursive-unset /system/osso
Reboot your phone and create your accounts again...Remember the above deletes all your internet connections too...

i tried what you suggested, but no change on skype contacts....

rm -rf /home/user/.activesync
rm -rf /home/user/.aegis
Again reboot after doing the above and try adding back the accounts...
