Hi,

I sent my N9 for repair (malfunctioning audio jack) and it came back today. While the original problem seems to have been fixed, new problems seem to have crept in. Namely:

1. The stand by screen. It is visible for about 5s and then goes off. Not always visible like it used to be.
2. I can't turn on the display by double tapping the screen.

Any idea on how to fix these? Or is it possible that a wrong part was used by the repair guys that might be causing this problem?

Your proximity sensor is messed mate.

Especially if while in a call, the screen stays off even when its away from your ear!

You don't have anything covering the proximity sensor do you? (Top right of the phone above the screen)

Also have you tried doing a reflash just incase?

So when I receive a call, the screen remains blank. Then I have to press the unlock button to wake up the screen. As soon as I answer the call, the screen goes black irrespective of whether the phone is located near my ear or not. Even pressing the unlock button does not wake up the screen. I can only wake up the screen when I end the call.

I am going to reflash the phone to see if it helps (I doubt it will).

As I said before, your proximity sensor is faulty! It might have been disconnected by Nokia repair and never reconnected :(

ah then GOW is right...proximity sensor issues...remember there is no software fix for hardware issues...try a reflash but nokia care beckons...

after all even after retirement you played on in the IPL so nokia care is the same bug...once you go there you'll keep returning :D

Yeah, it looks like another 3 weeks without my phone. At least the IPL paid well ...

I'm not encouraging violence but if i was you i'd throw up a fuss and make them give a refurbished device or return it to you in 3 working days...after all they screwed your device so they are liable for it...
