Re: Need help to disable screen autolock
I was stupid and used Mac OS textedit to open the file and remove the entry not knowing they have to be edited using a proper gconf tool. Now the file is messed up and I could use the original if you don't mind sending. (I'm not a developer)
Thank you! Edit: It's located here: /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults/system/osso/dsm/locks/%gconf.xml |

Re: Need help to disable screen autolock
Thanks for the file. And I know you told me to backup and trust me I put it in my head with the intent of doing so but somehow my thoughts got sidetracked and it was just too late.

Re: Need help to disable screen autolock
Wow it works! Thanks everyone. Speaking of gconf, I stumbled upon the Network_Search_Interval under connectivity. It's set as a default of 300 (5 mins). My interest is credited to this post: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=675
I was always annoyed with the stuttering of bluetooth during audio streaming to my car and it was due to the routine Wi-Fi scanning while streaming audio. So I set it to 0. I figure for me, why should I have my phone waste battery by looking for useless Wi-Fi every 5 minutes. If I'm away from my home Wi-Fi connection and I'm in a public area and in a situation where I need Wi-Fi, I would just hit the status bar and search and establish a connection to whatever network. I only see gains for me by disabling the routine search, specifically in battery life and of course in A2DP streaming. When I come home I'll just manually connect to my home network and that's it! |
