Re: The Tiny Windows 8 Release Thread

windows 8 (the PC edition) is a fantastic operating system once you get used to it.
takes a couple of days and then the love begins.

it's also much lighter and faster than windows 7 (which is a good OS as well).

gives life to older systems than struggle to run windows 7.

Debian with LXDE is lighter and faster on my Rev 1 Raspberry Pi than windows could hope to be a on a quad core 4gb ram desktop, and the best thing? it's not Microsloth.

the only reason that 8 runs better than 7 is that after more than 20 years, MS have finally realised that you can actually optimize code

So, we got to give MS credit for their work (better late than never) on Windows8.

I liked Ubuntu 12.04 as well... but I came back to Windows because of the lack of apps (one example is ... guitar rig , Guitar Pro and many others)

I liked Ubuntu until they started with that Unity crap. I'm not sure why they think a tablet-style UX is suitable for desktop machines with a keyboard and mouse. Also, it seems some Linux distros are becoming as bloated as Windoze these days. I suppose that's the price of attracting new users. If my time had no value, I'd switch to Arch Linux.

EDIT: On topic - I will never use Windoze again. After years of suffering, that's one of the best things about not having a boss. I can use whatever OS and software I want. *Insert evil laugh*
