You're right, there is logically "no reason" that it wouldn't work. In fact, I use iChat on my Mac to video chat with my wife on her Mac and a buddy on his Mac, all over a Google Talk account. Google's infrastructure and protocols in use certainly support it. iChat just sees it as a Jabber server and is happy to pass video over XMPP. If the Nokia video chat client was truly standard...I have to think I could VTC from my N800 to my Mac....but I can't.
Thoughts?
