I downloaded it and it came around 1.3 gb after uncomperessing rar.
Before few days, i was searching skin one by one online and installing them and today from this rar i have hell lot of skins layin around on my linux pc.Its kinda like ocean of winamp skins.Can't make up my mind which one to try first, there are literally 1000's of them and oragnized in specific folders.Cool collection endsormeans.
I wish xmms or audcious could support .wal skin.I checked xmms faq page and it says .wal support is not implemented.

btw i checked winamp skin maker and since it has .exe extension, i will have to fire up virtual box to use it.Never had luck with wine in linux.

@KotCzarny Thanks for your suggestion.I will definitely give it a go on the linux pc.I love apps made by this community people.I was under the impression its only for nokia 800 or n900.Might have missed release notes.I already have it on my n900 and so far works great.

some files failed to parse (will make a nice testing ground for oscp skin cutter), but most did fine. if you want all files in one dir you can unzip without paths or do:

@Val.- hehe ...I wasn't kidding when I said it was alot of skins...yea...there is tons here for everyone. hehe literally an ocean of skins is right. thankfully it is organized according to the original winamp skin sub-site categories to make the process of hunting for what you wish less daunting.

hm...got me thinking. I'll mention it after this brief interlude.

well strange I never thought of it before..
I did some hunting ...
I thought it would be grand if I could find a .wal extension to .wsz extension batch-file converter ...then just convert the entirety of the collection straight into .wsz ...at least then it may be possible to use or extract or convert a .png from it (which is a step in the right direction) ...which then makes ALL the skins useable instead of 2/3 to 3/4 of the collection useable for xmms-oscp-audaicious-winamp2...
haven't found a great deal of testimonial hard results...still looking.

if the format is simple enough and if there are nice skins out there i can simply add .wal support to oscp

wow man...some of the nicest are .wal ...of course meant for winamp3-winamp5 .
.wsz is classic winamp skin extension.
And 1/3 (for sure) to maybeeee almost 1/2 of all the skins in this collection are in .wal

But if you could make oscp run .wal's too...then pretty much all winamp skins are usable..no filtering needed. That just expands the list of usable skins from 2000-2500ish to well....allllll 4000.

If you can do it...that is a mind blowing amount of option that no player past or current player has.

I searched for the converter online but couldn't find it.Both versions are backward compatible in winamp player, its just .wsz only works on linux players.

Thanks for the preview skins folders.Now its easy to see the skin before loading on to the player.

Actually yea they are backward compat. with winamp5 (never bothered with later versions after winamp2)..it seems it is the only player which can use both .wsz and .wal skin formats.
rather ..it is the only player that can play both ...until oscp can do it (cross fingers)

And actually looking at the numbers ...

in the collection:

the number of .wsz skins compat. with xmms-audacious-oscp-winamp2 (and backward compat. with winamp5 ... :D) is 2057 (there seems to be a duplication of some.. so the initial number is 2935 .wsz skins...after the redundancy is taken out it loses almost 900 dupes.)

the number of .wal skins compat. (for now only :D) with winamp5 is 871 (as well there seems to be some redundancy considering the original number of .wal skins was 1216...meaning that there were some 455 dupes.)

The winamp5 .wal skins were unique in their structural variance from the typical block look stylized in .wsz skins.
so the big question is...even though .wal skin offers something really different in visual approach...
Is it worth the work to make .wal compatible for only 871 potential structurally varied (albeit beautiful) skin options?

added fixups to oscc and reupped previews archive, later i'll make oscp packages with updated oscc (ie. oscp will read skins right)

idea: button in oscp to load random skin
update: done, works amazingly with such big skin library. packages wll be upped when i hunt one lttle bug
