Alcatel phones are to Alcatel-Lucent as the Nokia N1 is to Nokia.
'Alcatel Mobile Phones' is owned entirely by the TCL Corporation, a Chinese company that also owns the Palm brand. They have a well-earned reputation for absolutely terrible reliability / quality control. I'd steer well clear.
