this Sonar app (don't know about any others..) doesn't use wlan...
it uses the mic and speakers to "ping" ....essentially...



Have to fight and work hard for what's free...odd eh?

I consider it an absolute blessing that we at least have what little we do have..
since there ain't no rest for the wicked and money don't grow on trees...

No, endso. This sonar application (the one that this thread is about) does.
I checked the sources too although not to any serious depth.

You mean this one, that one works via speakers and mic.

Why don't you just run it?

AFAIK it tries to locate nearby devices via WLAN and/or Bluetooth and just shows them on a map. Depending on the signal strength it tries to estimate a distance.

The only thing you might worry about is that it runs as root, but doesn't seem to contain anything suspicious.

Perhaps you can explain us why you are so interested in this particular program, yet not intersted enough to install it? (and yet interested enough to be so persistent in asking others to look at it for you?).

I wouldn't touch that program with a stick.. coming from "Mobius Group", sounds so leet evil they probably own the NSA! :)

Just by looking at the source on my laptop I've probably got a xloader-replacing trojan transmitted over ultrasound on my N900 which will leak my p0rn all over the place.

No I won't do that... :)
