Re: [Council] Q2 2016 Community Council Election Announcement

Madness absolute madness...who on earth would nominate.let alone vote for me?
I get in and I promise to fight for the exact same rights for our fellow maemoans as what Trump is fighting for ..
Complete and total nuclear proliferation amoungst our community members....
possibly walls lots of walls..
.ooh and I would have us break off all ties with Apple...
(we do have ties to Apple don't we?)
and possibly threaten them with swarming across the dmz...
(we do have a dmz don't we? If we don't I purpose a dmz between us and Apple!...THEN swarm across it...)

But in all seriousness...best I can say is... whether on council or not ..I still believe in plugging away working on universally applicable maemo (software and accessory) coolness ....
All Hail H̶y̶d̶r̶a̶ um..Maemo!

Re: [Council] Q2 2016 Community Council Election Announcement

Up to now we have the following people nominated as candidates for council. I have just manually verified the Karma points of each candidate, and all pass with flying colours.
  • eekkelund
  • Win7Mac
  • juiceme
  • mosen
  • abranson
  • pichlo
  • peterleinchen
  • endsormeans
  • reinob
  • rzr
  • thedead1440
  • Wikiwide
  • wicket

If you want to accept, to formally nominate to council candidacy you need to post announcement to the maemo mailing list (maemo-community@maemo.org)

See examples from last time elections from the list archives;

Well, council task is a kind of community contact point; if there are members with problems they can come and voice them to Council and Council tries to solve the issues or delegate to other bodies (sysadmins, board, moderators, etc..)

Council also arranges votes and polls for the community, and calls the community General Assembly to session.

Main qualifications for a council position is ability to communicate clearly with people and to have some time to delegate to our common cause.
Matters are usually handled via mail and (at least) once a week in an IRC chat session on freenet channel #maemo-meeting

Since the first n900 i owned in 2011, i lurked here for advanced insight but never registered because i estimated myself as too much of a noob to contribute.
Thanx for your confidence eekkelund.

Exchanging PMs with Juiceme for details right now.

Re: [Council] Q2 2016 Community Council Election Announcement

Dear community,

we found out there's a flaw in the announcement of the ongoing council election. The timetable announced does not leave enough time between nomination and election period. Basically the "contemplation period" was not adhered as supposed.

Also, since no candidacy has been officially declared via the Community mailing list so far, current Council decided to postpone the election.

The schedule now is as follows (all deadlines 23:59 UTC):
  • Election announced: 27 March 2016
  • Deadline for karma electorate: 17 April 2016
  • Nomination period: 27 March 2016 - 17 April 2016 (Sunday),
candidates should have posted to Mailing list by then
  • List of candidates announced: ~ 18 April 2016
  • Contemplation period: 18 April 2016 - 24 April 2016
  • Election period: 25 April 2016 - 1 May 2016 (Sunday)
  • Results announced: ~ 2 May 2016

Sorry for the inconvenience.
On behalf of the outgoing Council

Wikipage edited accordingly.

@all,

I've just sent the e-mail officially candidating for the council election.

I'd like to remind people wishing to candidate and/or accept a nomination to do so via the maemo community mailing list. The more candidates the better!

Huh, 1 brave soul only so far?
And I thought we already had a few valid and dignified candidates... (endsormeans, chenliangchen, eekkelund, pichlo, abranson, mosen)

So basically bumping this thread - only 3 days left (deadline sunday 23:59 UTC).

For posting to the community mailing list, you must send from the email-address used for registering.
Wiki: Community mailing lists
If you have any questions regarding the process, please contact council_at_maemo_org.

And in case you don't know yet, what everybody should do is Link your talk.maemo.org account with your maemo.org profile.

Personally, I'm still undecided... :D
