i still only have a hazy grasp of how the mer-core relates to the android kernel and sailfish, but does the following from the article above:

"However, Meizu didn't tell anyone anything about a Meizu MX6 Ubuntu Edition coming soon, but considering that Ubuntu Touch OTA-13 will finally move to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow BSP (Board Support Package), it should also support new devices."

Have any impact of future kernel versions of sailfish?

Still "coming soon" according to gsmarc.com, a website that I'm not familiar with citing no source in particular.

Thing is, everything looks on hold as the transition is sorted out from click based packages to snappy. No firm deadlines in sight.
