Forgot to mention that Polar asks me to touch the device but yes it requires PIN code so perhaps it is a bluetooth thing then? In that case the bluetooth needs some working as well.

can you get some specific how make work nfc for sfx?
when i enable qt += nfc it says

unknown module nfc

It doesnt work on xperia x, for multiple reasons.

The only possible solution is to build QtNFC for Android against libhybris i think, which will have to be done per adaptation
