@karlos devel

try running some background processes and cores 5 and 6 should start scaling up. Those are (supposedly) the higher performance 1.8GHz cores on the Xperia X. This is is for the EA 2.1.4.12 release.

Also, I just noticed that all six CPU cores are enabled when reviewing AIDA64. They cycle up and down, all of them. Previously there were only four enabled.

I guess that's why you noticed heavier battery drain.

That could be a possibility, however I think mine is more likely related to the overall stutter of my install. I think something is mismatched somewhere and causing a handful of glitches. Theoretically, the two "new" activated cores should actually reduce battery consumption, so long as the governor is working as it should.

Yes 6 cores enabled on high demand of process. looks like Turbo Boost : ) I will check if it the same in 2.1.3.x

As far as I know, it wasn't enabled on 2.1.3.x, and that was a big contention with the release being labeled "incomplete".

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

On 2.1.3.7 all cores are working, just tested it, but Sailfish doesn't know the difference between the big and little cores and so it often uses only little cores instead of the big ones.

objectifnul 2018-02-15 21:16

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

Aren't cores 5 and 6 (A72) used as GPU's? (or intended to)

mautz 2018-02-15 21:19

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

Nope, cpu 4 and 5 are more powerful than 0-3. But 0-3 need less power. So core 4 and 5 are normally only used on heavy load.

Unfortunately we detected another problem with the OS update just before going to roll it out for early access users. We will fix the issue in the weekend and roll 2.1.4 out next week. Apologies for the delay, This is why the link to release notes does not work yet.

Hey people, is this update for Jolla 1 too? or is it just for Sailfish X?

It's for Jolla 1 too when released but currently it has been withdrawn due to some newfound issues.

Should be released for early adapters in the beginning of next week.

Yeah, it's finnicky. Package management issues and some regressions, but overall - from what I previewed - this is a fantastic release. Looks like Jolla addressed quite a few concerns, plus CVE patching.

Can't wait!

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

Seems like Jolla pulled the update for now, the thread on TJC is currently unavailable. They probably want to sort out some of the issues found here (after all, that is what an EA is there for) before releasing it.

It's great nevertheless to see so many great improvements coming to our Xperia X soon(tm).

For those who already updated: If the repo issue is the only one we should be fine staying on 2.1.4.12 or?

I'm just going to leave my X on 2.1.4.12 until it hits officially, or another EA is announced. I'll let you know if I run into anything outside what we've all found.

The EA release is likely to be 2.1.4.xx with xx>12 anyway.

I just added an old Google Apps account (have never done that before on Sailfish, because I try to maintain a healthy distance from Google). Email client seems to be pretty fluid and smooth, mail retrieves pretty quickly. I don't notice any serious issues with it. I hadn't used the native email client before, but I heard it was awful. Not bad at all in 2.1.4.12. Of course, your experiences may vary.

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

No lagging issue for me with native email client in 2.1.3.7 (Jolla phone and Xperia X). I have no Gmail account though.

Whilst waiting for storeman to be updated, can't you download rpm's from Openrepos on the browser and install? I use the camera more frequently than installing apps, so prefer camera improvements over waiting for warehouse, storeman. Hopefully a new storeman release isn't far away.

2.1.4.12 looks to be much improved. I can't see any discernible lag or slowdown when using the native mail client, at least with gmail. I don't intend on adding it back after I reflash, so if you have any more tests you need run let me know.

Ok now, I'm really considering to update via ssu ( can't wait to get back a native email client ! )
Can anyone repost the detailed ssu commands please ?

I'd summarize this pulled release with "Finally we have a decent Camera on sfos" nevertheless, so you might still want to go for it ;)

I assume this is only a thing to try for those who already updated and are now confronted with repos not available.

Re: 2.1.4 EA / Lapuanjoki

Removing the non funcional repositories and adding the new ones does no harm. It can also be reverted if you want to.
The repos were changed to wrong (non reachable from outside Jolla company) urls during the update, so basically you won't be able to get software from Jolla if you leave it like this.
