Either this is a somewhat improbable coincidence or Jolla made a special feature to use the FP-Reader solely for convenience, as i kind of requested (at least i wrote about my usecase to not use the reader for security but for convenience only).
So, they touched the fingerprint reader inconvenience.
But instead of completely fixing the issue, they only slightly bettered the situation for users relying on the "security" aspect of FP-Unlock. For my (insecure) convenience, all is awesomely perfect right now.
Let me explain:

The issue was one having to press the power-button first to bring up lockscreen, then lift up the finger and tab/hold it again on the sensor to have it read and unlock.
Jollas "solution", introduce mce-tool setting that does not need the button to be pressed to activate the scanner/lockscreen but "only" tab on the sensor, then lift up and (~ONE SECOND LATER, when the lockscreen has fully loaded) tab again.
[CODE]mcetool --set-fingerprint-wakeup-mode=always[/CODE

So when using a pin code, not much has changed as you still have a two tap process, now with much longer wait between the actions instead of the need to actually click the first time.
Spiiroin hints in the tjc thread it might be a limitation in Xperia X hardware and not be solveable into a on action process with jollas means(?).

Now, i do not know if jolla has planned the following, but if you have registered fingerprints and activate the mce-tools setting above but disable pin code in settings, there is my requested feature to unlock to homescreen/last app by simply touching the sensor once, bypassing the lockscreen

Could somebody confirm?

Is it only my phone that entered this state?

1. register a fingerprint in settings (if not done)
2. mcetool --set-fingerprint-wakeup-mode=always (or =proximity)
3. deactivate unlock pincode (if not already)
4. check if phone fully unlocks by only touching the sensor (still not reliable regarding pressure and targeting and works best without case attached tho)
Thx

@mosen i already reported the feature 3 week ago. sf 3.0.1 will more complete mce

@joonaPetrell has confimed in tjc that appDrawer-landscape-mode is fixed now, then waiting for the next ...

Re: Sailfish 3.0.0.5 Lemmenjoki EA

The landscape orientation is all messed up. The lancher icons are piled up on each other, the background in events view is rotated 90°, top menu only covers the middle of the screen... Can anyone with an updated tablet confirm? Mine is only a J1 with a patch, maybe it is just the patch that is messed up.

You're correct there; same thing exists on XperiaX.
The topmenu being narrower than screen is not that bad, but zero pixel vertical icon spacing looks a bit uncomfortable.

Actually, I don't like that I can't just swype from the full top area to close an app, but maybe I'll get used to it.

Re: Sailfish 3.0.0.5 Lemmenjoki EA

Updated my Xperia X and one of my Jolla Mk1 phones.
Liking SF 3 so far but, not sure if anyone else has seen this happen on the Xperia X, once in a while the screen goes blank for a split second.
I don't think it's the magnetic flip cover causing it, because I have set the phone to lock immediately when the cover is closed.

pichlo 2018-11-03 09:52

Re: Sailfish 3.0.0.5 Lemmenjoki EA

I have not noticed that yet on my J1, but I have noticed that screen rotation is noticeably slower. Like there is a bit of hesitation between me rotating the phone and the screen following. Definitely slower than before.

A setting or a patch would be nice to close apps with a centered down swipe and open the top menu while swipping down on the edges....just the other way around like it is now.

I haven't noticed anything happening on my Jolla 1, but the screen blanking definitely happens on my Xperia X. Could be something to do with the screen rotation.

I haven't been able to update my second Jolla 1 as it just doesn't want to update. The download doesn't even complete before it tells me it's ready for install (probably due to previous attempts to update). I'll probably do a factory reset because this one has been messed about with so much in the past and it has the TOHKeyboard installed.

Maybe you should try in the terminal, my XperiaX failed 3 times with the upgrade ... doing it manually immediately succeeded.

Help needed:

My update in SailX to 3.0.0.5 using GUI had failed (stuck at sailfish progress bar after reboot), updated manually and all worked fine except since then
Code:

pkcon update
failed "aborted by user". I can't install or remove apps, store app does not start.
Now I tried to revert to 2.2.1.19, but manual downgrade fails:

Code:

[root@Sailfish nemo]# ssu release 2.2.1.19
Changing release from Device to 2.2.1.19
Your device is now in release mode!
[root@Sailfish nemo]# version --dup

Download works OK, installation works OK, until:

Code:

The upgrade could NOT be finished. Make sure you have
a working Internet Connection and SSU is propertly set up. In
case the repos are changing rapidly (e.g. during development),
just restarting the upgrade might fix the issue.

REBOOT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Now I'm scared and out of my depth :o

Anyway, glad if it's relly gone now.

Same here. I thought my phone just had a run down battery, bought a used Xperia X, but it's noticeably better after the update.

Hi.
In my case this is even worse:
For some reason the launcher grid shows six icons on each row.

Maybe because of an old patch or something I tinkered with months ago,....
https://fravaccaro.wordpress.com/201...-more-content/

I have been trying with files in "/etc/dconf/" to no avail.
Anyone knows how to restore the original grid with four icons per row? My device is an Xperia X.
Thanks in advance.
Regards.

This is mentioned as fixed in just about every release thread, and likewise someone else always discovers a new battery drain that wasn't there before, it's honestly quite funny. My guess is that it's never (except for that one time where the WiFi never shut off or something) actually fixed or caused by any update, but that it's always related to outside conditions that coincidentally changed around the time of the update (phone masts being replaced, a rise or drop in temperature, and so on). I can't think of any other way to explain the phenomenon.

It is definitely an MS exchange problem. PDF attachments open fine in simple email accounts. Another problem is that password protected PDF's don't open in MS exchange , the password entry page just keeps asking for the password , even though passwords have been entered correctly, but open fine in simple email accounts.

There is one UI inconsistancy I just noticed which I have not seen yet reported;

When the device is locked and you access the top menu all of the same settings that you have selected are shown, however you can only operate some of those.

For example switching the torch on/off or changing ambience is possible, but wlan toggle on/off or entering airplane mode is not allowed.

This behaviour is OK, as I see those operations are priviliged and should not be allowed unauthenticated. However I'd like to see those icons grayed out or otherwice made "unaccessible" insead of "seemingly" being operatible without actually working.

My reading was, "the update went smoothly yesterday, even though I did not do anything different than the last time when it kept failing". I thought it was obvious and completely unambiguous, but that's probably because I am a Bloody Foreigner™ like romu ;)
