When I looked at the scaled photo at first, I thought it was a Baobob -- I guess because I'm a fan of Le Petit Prince. But I think the perspective distortion from the angle the photo was snapped at gives an exaggerated fullness to the trunk. Plus upon closer inspection the foliage appears more like needles than broadleafs, and the trunk has the scaley look of something in the cedar family. So that's my SWAG. Do I earn my forestry badge?

I can ask her to sing it for you. She may be a bit shy but who knows? She has her own YouTube channel after all ;)

EDIT: Here you go. Maria was more than happy to oblige. I had to wrap it in tar to pacify the TMO uploader.

You can always use the other definition of HIGH ;)

That is true... I usually always use "other definition" on every camera-topic ;)

Went for a hike yesterday to a really nice place, that puts me on a high positive mode :) .

So here the photo.

I used a Samsung Galaxy J4+, no editing was done.

Mänty.
The picture on the right side is pretty much what the photographed scpecimen looked like.
I would just translate it to "pine", but Wikipedia botanists do not agree.

There is 90 species of pinus in the Pinaceae family, so I think Pine is an acceptable translation of your tree. At least I can't find no one better.

I just can't post the small image which you can click to bigger. So copy the url of the image and paste it in a new window to see this correctly (if you use micro-b as I do for the forum).

I change my entry to this. What makes you high? Well God. The church here just represents christian experience of God (which I have exprerienced), so not for the institution and not either the formal theology (which I disagree to be either neccessary or true in some points).

This building was lightened in LUX Helsinki exhibition, the biggest church in Helsinki (not sure if in all Finland). It looks like very dirty and/or colourfull which both for me show the church/christianity in the right light. Yet makes me high (when I get to talk abot these matters or when I happen to fall into deep thinking/meditation of these matters).

No religious talks in this forum though which is good. Just made a point for this picture (hope I didn't offend or cross the line what here is accepted).

BlessN900 with just a slight crop from the sides (to get some light spots off) and scaled to 77%.

Ehm, ehm. (Yes, I have done it from the N900 in the past.)

EDIT: a step-by-step guide.

I'm glad the mystery is solved.

In the English-speaking world, it's a Scotch Pine, or a Scots Pine. I had never read "Scots Pine" before today. I'm used to seeing them grow about 2 meters tall -- not as large specimens like the photo above -- since around here they're cultivated as Christmas trees.

But I would absolutely accept just "Pine" since I obviously have not earned that forestry badge.

Just how to get rid off that "oversized"? - ok, so not possible...

This is the most HIGH state of destruction I have seen on a n900.

I just bought it for it's camera module and LCD for 10€.
Screen is scratched (but LCD is ok behind), kb is ruined, kb frame is broken, usb port is not de-soldered but
not even present any more, cover is full of tape, GSM is dead...

Picture made today with my N900 on fcamera, manual focus, manual white balance, manual exposure time.
Developed with darktable: vignette, monochrome, tiny orange virage in highlights, 5200 ISO grain.
No cropping nor digital zoom.

Yes, Darktable is a great soft for "development" of pictures. After bibble and rawtherapee IMHO.

I don't give it much hope but cannot come up with anything better. Picture taken with a Jolla 1 from outside my office during a lunch break on 21st January. It is remarkable for its lack of any features except a single contrail. Our vicinity to Heathrow usually presents more than one, on the rare occasion we can see any blue in the sky at all.

No, we were not high when this happened... So the link to the context would be that we had high expectations for the evening. We were going to ski through the forest to the cabin and see the sunset at the lake. But instead we missed the sunset while waiting a tractor to pull the car out... The road was covered by ice and was slippery like glass, and there were 5cm of fresh snow covering the ice. So even for the tractor with snowchains it was almost impossible to pull the car out.

I cannot complain. It is worth the hour's commute (each way).

Here are some more of the whole building (a converted barn) and a view from the window. Taken in 2015 and 2016, respectively, and shrunk before uploading since they are not part of the competition.

Sadly, the company is closing our office because of "a limited scope for growth" (read: cost saving). So I will be looking for a new job soon. And I mean real soon, not Jolla soon.

I feel for you. Something remotely similar happened to me once. It was in the summer and I got stuck in the mud when I was trying some shortcut that a map insisted was there. A paper map at that time, no GPS.

The trip up the Rheinturm was quite nice but the goal honestly was to compete :p

View direction is north-west into the Ruhrpott.
It was very windy today and the weather front at the right brought some decent hail and rain.

My vote goes with ease to 5. nonsuch. Very nice picture with the "high" theme and watching trees that way has given me a lot of high feelings since kid. Love to do it and like the picture a lot.

Lots of HIGH pictures :)

But I stay with KenYoung #2, even so even (possibly) higher pic from mscion also strikes me. And of course mosen, especially as he is pointing his cam in the right direction :D

PS. Looks like I messed something with my picture, or actually posted the wrong one. This one is way too purple and also out of focus... Being too high to do it properly?
