Hot off the internet!

Take a look at a PDF being displayed on the N810:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgsVdzrbJ9w

The performance and clarity is great, making the N810 an incredible E-Book reader and compatible with many documents the world over.

Thanks to Karwee for the great link!

The Cap't suggested (in another thread) I posted the following link here (I'm guessing this is the thread he meant), so here goes:

Tip: Just follow http://maemo.org/news/planet-maemo/ and you won't have to check in on [insert tablet blogger's name] blog all the time (some are updated only rarely). The planet syndicates a lot of blogs so that you'll have just one place to check.

Re: N810 Links

For those that don't know, you can use AIM/Yahoo/MSN/Google Talk/Jabber/etc on the N810 using the pre-installed IM app! In doing so, you avoid needing to install external applications which may be buggy and/or bloated.

Go to Jablet.net for details on how to accomplish this. Thanks to ZeroJay and Texrat for proving this most useful of services.

Official Nokia How-to presentations for the N810 on nokia europe's site. The presentations look as though they're N810 friendly, and pare presented as easy-to-follow flash animations.

A good watch for anyone that wants to learn a little more!

Need a gaming fix for the N810? Get acquainted with ScummVM (OS20008 release) and then reacquainted with your favorite LucasArts games. Some of these games were a joy to play (Monkey Island anyone?).

http://fanoush.wz.cz/maemo/#scummvm

Take a look at this video of Day Of the Tenticle on the N800 via Youtube

****EDIT***
Here's a link to ScummVMs official site with screenshots of supported games: ScummVM :: Screenshots

Doesn't The Curse Of Monkey Island look great? Memories...

This is a must-get for me. Old games, yes, but still fun experiences.

Not satisfied with Canola, Kagu, or UKMP as a media center? Fret not, another player has entered the fray:

The N810 gets a wonderful plug on WebAlert (online tech show), and is reviewed quite favorably against the iPod touch.

Are you excited? The Canola 2 teaser site is online! Get a flash presentation of how Canola 2 is going to look and feel on every generation of Internet Tablet (Nokia 770, N800, and N810) a mere 9 days from this post.

Go here to view the site: http://openbossa.indt.org.br/canola/index2.html

The original Blog post announcing this site is here: http://www.marceloeduardo.com/blog/d...er-site-online

Additionally, you can also take a look at the Canola Picture Viewer details by clicking here.

I'm extremely impressed with the Canola team. They have created a great product keeping in mind the user-experience rather than just focussing on the products functions. The result is a very slick and user-friendly media tool that users can understand with little problem. I also LOVE the website, it's stylish and comprehensive so you don't have to go searching through changelogs to figure out what the software does. I wish more software were designed in this fasion. Kudos, chaps!

What should you get this holiday season? Wired thinks that it should be a Nokia N810 Internet Tablet. Currently, the latest N-Series device placed second on the Wired list of top 10 Gifts for the season.

Read more here: http://www.wired.com/gadgets/gadgetr...12/wl_10things

What's number one, you ask? Find out using the link above.

Ars Techica has reviewed the N810. Though I haven't read it myself, ars reviews tend to be quite good. It's worth a read:

Got PIM? From the site:

Quote:

Pimlico is a suite of lightweight Personal Information Management (PIM) applications designed primarily for handheld and mobile devices.
It seems as if the N800 version is available, so a OS2008 release shouldn't be far behind.

Potential "case" for N810 until something custom is designed:
http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?...tk=all&An=text

Retail, this did seem pricey, I got mine in a clearance bin at my local store, $22. Which tends to mean it won't be on the shelves everywhere. I wonder what it was originally designed for...I'm pretty sure it pre-dated the n810.

As of today it's still snug and holding up tough.

I wrote a first impressing blog post which tries to be a review:
N810 Handheld Computer

I bought the N810 to replace my Zaurus. Although the keyboard is not as good as on the Z, I believe the Internet Tablet won't let me down.

Re: N810 Links

A word of caution - before getting too excited about the N810. Look at all the posts regarding problems with it. I for one cannot install a single application that all the videos and literature and links say it's supposed to. I can't install the camera application, not FM radio, not Skype, not anything. I just bought this N810 and have upgraded to the latest OS, but it simply does not do what it was advertised to do.
Unless someone can help me with this, anyone who wants it can have it. It's junk at this point.

cdmackay 2008-03-08 16:39

Re: N810 Links

there may be a problem with your individual device; others don't seem to be having the problems you are, and the same OS also runs fine on the n800.

have you added any repositories yourself, after upgrading the OS?

Re: N810 Links

N810 doesn't have the FM Radio tuner module in it.
