Thanks, I'm not familiar with Palm and did not know FileZ was an app for it.

Re: [Palm OS] GVM: Running PalmOS apps via shortcut

If I increase the dynamic heap to 4 megs and go straight to launcher, will that extra storage be retained for whatever application I use thereafter or do I have to be specific with the dynamic heap on each and every application?

Thanks!

There is such an option from the command line, but for some stupid reason, it never worked.

Okay, looks like I was previously wrong.

As far as I know, this is the only way to launch Garnet with no status bar.

/usr/bin/gvm/gvm -a lnch -z 1 -O none -f yes

Garnet will appear on the left side of the screen and I can't seem to find a way to center it either.

Also, there's no way of getting the status bar back so I personally don't recommend starting this in such a way.

Re: [Palm OS] GVM: Running PalmOS apps via shortcut

anyone got?

I created a file called sltg.desktop containing
[Desktop Entry]
Version = 1.0.0
Encoding = UTF-8
Name = SLTG
Exec = /usr /bin/gvm/gvm - fullscreen=yes /home/user/MyDocs/Palm/SLTG.prc
Type = Application

and sent it to /usr/share/applications/hildon

but tried to open up, but it seems not met.

GVM doesn't let you just run PRCs from the command line; you have to first "install" it in the virtual Palm,and then launch it with the application ID (a four-character identifier associated with each app - you can get that from something like FileZ or some other Palm filemanager program). I've no idea what the ID is for SmartList2Go, tho.

The "Exec" line, IIRC, should read:
Exec = /usr/bin/gvm/gvm -a IDID -f

Replace the "IDID" part with the actual application ID.

I know it's a mix between those two lines ...

Exec = /usr /bin/gvm/gvm - fullscreen=yes /home/user/MyDocs/Palm/SLTG.prc

Exec=/usr/bin/gvm/gvm -a THNK -f /home/user/MyDocs/Palm/SLTG.prc

yes, it works with Agendus, iSilo, EasyNote, ... but always in small screen.
But it must have a direct way to open full screen.
Anyone know? :confused:

EDIT:

Bingo!

[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0.0
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=SLTG
Exec=/usr/bin/gvm/gvm -z 1.5 -a THNK -f /home/user/MyDocs/Palm/SLTG.prc
Type=Application

Re: [Palm OS] GVM: Running PalmOS apps via shortcut

I have two silly questions:
1) Once I launch an app, all the screen becomes only the Palm environment. How do I close it to go back to Maemo? So far, I have pressed power button and close the active app.
2) I'm trying to use iSilo, but I don't know where to place the files!!! Where is the Palm directory in Maemo? In iSilo, it says /Palm/Programs/isilo
Thanks for your help!!!!
Cheers.

1) to close press ctrl + backspace and click the X in the top right window.
2) I copy the prc and pdb files to a folder called Palm that I created in MyDocs. After you install through the Garnet.
3) The shortcut is created as informed on this topic. Remembering to change the ID of the corresponding application.
ex.THNK = smartlist2go, Enot = easynotes, PMcl = Palmary Clock, etc

Code:

[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0.0
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=SLTG
Exec=/usr/bin/gvm/gvm -z 1.5 -a THNK -f /home/user/MyDocs/Palm/SLTG.prc
Icon = sltg
Type=Application

but do not know in which folder is the image

This may have been mentioned by now...

I use Oracle VirtualBox. In essence, my gvm's files are sent on a crazy ride.

My Linux box is running Mint Julia 64 bit, installed Vbox on it.

Created a VM with it (with networking sharing wlan0) and installed Windoze in that.

Then while in Windoze, of course, I installed Palm desktop.

On the host (Linux box) create a secure (optional) Ad-Hoc network, and connect to it or activate it.

Launch Vbox, then Windoze, it will find the new network.

Select network within hotsync in the systray in Windoze.
In the gvm under hotsync it askes for an ip use the one from the guest not host. Mine was 10.42.43.34

works for me :)
hope this helps someone

The only thing I'm trying to do is set my serial and hotsync id so I can use my registration codes.

pfrc will extract all of the icons from the *.prc file. I think it is only for windoze but it's free (if memory serves me right)

hope that helps some, I haven't made it that far yet. I'm having hangs with my ROM launching any installed app. I'm also having trouble transferring my Treo 680 ROM from the device. I want to tinker with it.
