Sure, this would have been fun for my N810, and... Well, it turns out that it is fun, hehe. (Thanks, Tim!) :D I think my N810 went to a better cause, though.

Mine works, so "-mfpu=vfp" is not a problem.

Oh yes I can!

I wasn't referring to a Nokia Itablet (and most certainly not to that Itablet from Hell, the N810)

You can? Now? I don't think Pandora hit the streets ;)

And i was more referring to a future omap3 embrace by Nokia (that's is inevitable, mister Anderson, um, Jansens :)

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

I'm still standing by what I posted long ago about that Nokia is missing a huge opportunity for gaming on this platform, and 1 reason why I think they really missed the boat with the design of the N810. they really needed to keep the D-Pad on the front and they needed to add something like shoulder buttons and a 4 button layout on top as well.

I'm excited to see games like Crayola hopefully (and finally) coming onto this platform, as many games that are currently on the DS (N+ and Line Rider are just 2 examples) would be great if not even better on NIT's because of the screen size and resolution and especially the on-line possibilties.

Pandora will have a keyboard, but I played it on my PC tablet.

A Tablet PC is not even close to a NIT (size/power/weight)... In fact it is a laptop with touchscreen.

Please make an easy way to create more levels and save them (on mmc if is possible, so we can share them).
I want more levels!

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

I've installed last night too... and totally hooked all ready.

a way to create and share levels sounds brilliant. ... I could see a real online community developing with hard levels created and challenges set by users.

Would be cool to save your solution to a level too, so other folk could see how you completed it.

That said - I love the simplicity and the fact that there is no scoring, so you simply have to complete a level and there's no worries about how you do it, or how many moves it takes you... so it's still fun to go back and do the same level and do it a different way.

some of the finest playability I've ever seen.

I want more levels!

it has a built in level editor, so get creating! send new levels to me or to the list. instructions of sorts on the home page:
http://numptyphysics.garage.maemo.org/

ok, so it's a little rudimentary but it does the job (mostly) and where it doesn't you can edit the level files in a text editor.

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

Thanks! It works great, I've been playing for like an hour and I can't stop :D. I'm really looking forward to further development! One thing though, that tree level is almost impossible to beat!

stooo 2008-04-03 19:30

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

Yeah - I can't get the tree level either... I've had to take a break from it for some different thinking.

I'd like to report a bug of sorts though..... I'd like the back button to "undo" a move totally rather than just delete a line. If you know what I mean ?

General: Seriously? I've been away too long, maybe I can coax a little more life out of that thing! (With an EEE now I can't bring myself to buy an 810 (since the 900 will be out in a few months)) ;)

It's 20 seconds or less, when you do it right. If I could easily capture and post video, I would; since I can't, :p! (You can do it all live; pausing wouldn't help much. Your "Undo" ''fix'' would break my technique, though...)

My hint for the tree level: build a catapult! It's tonnes of fun!

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

Mine is something like a trebuchet, but sliding pivot = wierd. And I do hate the way going off the top edge of the screen resets the ball.

Hehe, I just built myself a giant dome. :D

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

That works well on the see-saw level.

Really, we do need a demo-recording mode. Speedruns!

A must have application

I built a see-saw which flew apart quite dramatically. You can draw a frame round the edge of the screen if you don't want the ball to go out of bounds.

this is something nokia needs to help develop and include on future tablets. we defintiely need a level editor.

by the way.... am i the only one who , when playing this game, thinks of Wile E. Coyote? LOL

it includes a level editor!

please make levels and i will gather them
into the next release. see site for instructions:
http://numptyphysics.garage.maemo.org

basically:
e (or fullscreen) to enter/exit editor
s (or menu) to save

levels are saved as ~/.numptyphysics/L99_saved.nph - you will need to
rename it out the way when you make your next level. *.nph levels in
this directory will be available when you next load the game.

Look, I merely said Magic Pen doesn't play well on a tablet without keyboard -- and it doesn't; I tried. I never mentioned a Nokia tablet or even a Pandora, just "tablet". So let's drop this before it gets silly.

Oops! too late...

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

Does Numpty Physics run on ITOS2007 or not?

tabletrat 2008-04-04 16:56

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

I tried to install it on 2007HE and got the libc thing. Is this either real 2007 or 2006?
Maybe I could get updates if my wireless worked!

Benson 2008-04-04 17:16

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

You try the 770 version?

Bundyo 2008-04-04 17:29

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

The 770 version is running on 2008HE for sure.

Benson 2008-04-04 17:33

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

Ah, then tabletrat probably tried it indeed, and it's 2008HE only. :(

Bundyo 2008-04-04 17:40

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

Maybe someone with a 3.2 SDK can compile it (on 2008 is easy). There's also packaging set up.

Karel Jansens 2008-04-04 17:40

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

I don't really care about the HE editions. Will it run on plain ITOS2007?

Bundyo 2008-04-04 17:41

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

No idea.

.

Benson 2008-04-04 17:44

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

Hmmm... I'll ask someone who's still running OS2007 to test it for you.

Hey, Karel! You wanna try numpty physics and see if it works? Some dude on itT wants to know if it runs on ITOS2007! Post back here when you find out.

I had to create ~/.numptyphysics/ dir manually.

I tried it on a 770 running 2007HE

Mind you, I am thinking of going back to 2006. It eats batteries.

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

Well, I tried. I got the missing libc6 notice, tried to find the lib in Application Mangler and got burned by the column width issue (you'd think they'd have kicked that b*st*rd entry off the list by now) and finally found, after a search, that on ITOS2007 libc6 only goes to 2.3.5 either.

So thanks for nothing -- again. Finally there's a great application for this tablet and I'm forced to install cr*ppy firmware full of bugs to run it.

Thanks, but no thanks. I'll run ArtRage on my Fujitsu instead...

tabletrat 2008-04-04 19:48

Re: Crayon Physics & internet tablets: made for each other

I tried artrage on my fujitsu, but that is a touch sensitive one. However, it works well on the tc1100. Well enough to remind me that I cant draw!
