I think that's Tyson University.

And yes, very off-topic. Stop that. I'm tempted much too easily.

Excellent! AUGH! but Paypal asks me how much I want to donate in Euros! Blah. :P

In case it's handy for anyone else, you can google up conversions which aren't 100% accurate but will give you an idea. For example, if you google up '100 dollars to euros', it'll come back with "100 U.S. dollars = 68.0596202 Euros" (oww-ch).

At any rate, once you pick a value and before you choose the final DONATE NOW button, Paypal will finally tell you precisely how much you're actually paying.

...and DONE! Thank you very much for this excellent program! I urge everyone to donate at least a little something. Vote with your cash, if you can. This is easily better spent money than most of the stuff you see peddled off on iTunes for a price.

Hi,

This was one app I was hoping to find when I moved to the NIT from my Axim.

I second the idea of satellite images also.

One request would be to have a last time updated option on the screen.

Other than that, awesome app, keep up the great work.

Thankk you for the transparency option... set to black w/ some transparency, it looks *really* nice in echo theme along side of the home* family of applets (homeIP, homeCalendar) ... also rounded corners!

If only the rss applet worked/looked this way (and w/out favicons)

Hey guys, I just realized that you need an "about" box somewhere. I had no idea what version I had until I went into Application Manager. And then I realized that I only have 0.20.6 ... I guess I should look in Extras-Devel?

Re: new omweather (0.21) rocks

....and, as a matter of fact, 0.21 *does* have an "about box", as well. ;)

After you've installed 0.21, click on the (?) icon on the bottom of the (now full size!) details screen, and the very first tab is the "About" tab... :D

qole 2008-08-20 23:22

Re: new omweather (0.21) rocks

I usually keep Extras-Devel disabled, just so I don't go accidentally updating some random, stable app into a gronky, experimental version.

briand 2008-08-20 23:25

Re: new omweather (0.21) rocks

yep. i do the same thing, for the same reason. every once in a while, though, i find there's something nice over there in Extras-Devel, so I enable it long enough to grab a copy. this was one of those such instances... ;)

Hi,

were are the omweather's preferences stored ?

briand 2008-08-23 16:26

Re: new omweather (0.21) rocks

the program configuration can be found in %gconf.xml in /var/lib/gconf/apps/maemo/omweather

and the specific weather station(s) configuration is stored in various files located in /home/user/apps/omweather

...probably not a good idea to edit either of those files by hand, though...

yes, it's very nice. :) I've been enjoying it for a couple weeks already. ;)

Yeah, me too, but the update makes it a lot faster. I liked the look but it felt a little sluggish; now it's excellent.

How do you get a barametric pressure displayed for a selected station? I noticed that in "units" there is pressure.

You have to select the Station layout that displays current conditions, which is the rightmost layout on the settings->Visuals->Layouts setting.

Den --

That information should show up in the data provided by the weather service. It is possible, I suppose, that some stations aren't reporting that information, so it's not getting relayed. I see it showing up in the weather summary for my location (Tallahassee, FL).

I like OmWeather but when I connect to an open wifi spot it immediately tries to grab new information. Sometimes this doesn't work, for example when you still need authorisation over HTTP(S), or when your VPN client is still logging in.

Re: new omweather (0.21) rocks

Last update added some nice features...now if they'd just work.

There's an obvious conversion error bug in the barometric pressure. When selecting to display in inches of mercury (in Hg), the typical number is "P: 0.03 inHg."

Is there any way that you could choose the font size or change the name of the weather station that you are reading? I use "Houston/George Bush Intercontinental Airport" (closest to my house) and the name runs way off the screen. So far the only workaround is to just not display the name. Ideally, the program should compute the size required to display the text in the visible area of the screen.

Maybe it's better if George Bush does run off your screen. But then this isn't the place for political conversations. :D

Any chance that the time (& date) for different stations could be displayed without having to go to the second info pop-up?

It would also be nice to have an option to display both metric & imperial (one large one small) so all us imperialistic idiots can get on board with the rest of the world...

Have fun

You can change the name of station on tab 'Stations'.

What did you mean? You can change current town by clicking on name of town on display or by clicking on arrows.

Why? Use or metric or imperial units.

Hi,

I've noticed that the sensor temperature as an icon never seems to update after the first change of preferences in the sensor tab. I have it set to update every 10 minutes. Is it just me?

thanks,
Frank

Re: new omweather (0.21) rocks

I see the same behavior. Maybe a daily change but never every 10 minutes.

All I can say is WOW!

Great job with "home" screen display on 0.21.2...

This seems to be more than just a bug fix. :)

A new version (0.21.2) appeared for OS2007 too, so I upgraded (in the application manager). But the new version refuses to start. After reboot the omweather applet was gone, and ticking it in the 'select applets' box doesn't start it, and it goes straight back to unticked.

I installed om weather, and the settings app made the tablet unresponsive, so I restarted the device. Now my tablet won't boot. How can I do a factory reset?

Thanks to all who made this app and thanks especially for improving it constantly! It really is the most polished and useful app for the IT yet.:)

In reading through this thread, I did not notice anyone mention the answer to a question I've had, so I'll ask it here. How do I set the current weather on the first icon? I keep getting 'n/a' on the display. I guess this because I am not sure how to set it, as in how often to update.

@qole: I want an ice puddle. How do I get one?

@ Comma Police: How did I do? :p
