woot :D
installing right away! |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Seems like I've broken the scrolling a little :) But since its 3 in the morning here, it'll have to wait for tomorrow. ;)

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
that osk keyboard could still use some love. but so far im loving it!
btw, did you "fix" the rounded corner issue, or did someone update the forum theme? and the fixed history will make it dead simple for me to continue my user friendy archive read ;) seems your "esc to mark" may have broken the same buttons ability to go back in history... |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
I fixed it with user styles ;) Didn't want to patch WebKit for that ;)
Yes, forgot about that, I'll see how I can fix it. |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Redownload - the same revision updated.
Escape now works as intended. The select key is Menu. Short click brings the menu, hold and drag to select. Fixed the scrolling, still needs some love on release after a hold. |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Bundyo, just read from the itT homepage this thread so I decide to boot Maemo and try it, all I can say is that it's speed is impressive!
I started NITdroid in the quest for a usable browser as I realized MicroB was ugly, unusable and obsolete, Fennec is ok but too slow, Android browser is usable for me daily but not the speed I would like. Tear is excellent as it is extremely fast but it is missing tabs, I mean, some way to switch very fast between tabs (not windows), in NITdroid you press Menu-T and you get this. If you implement this I'm pretty sure it will rival all browsers and maybe then I could switch to Maemo again just for the need of a good browser. :) Well done and thx for working on fixing the most important reason for a Tablet!! :) |

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Is there an installable version for chinook for the latest revision? The libwebkit package complains about libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.12.12-1osso10) and libidn11 (>= 0.5.18) as someone mentioned earlier.
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
You have to install libidn11, the other dependency can be forced until i find a way to remove it.

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
just tried to use tear to download a attachment form the forum, and the filename given was most of the url pointing to the file...
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Yeah, wget does that too :) I'll see if there's something in the header...
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
iirc, wget got some issues with more recent http versions...
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
can you see what's preventing tear from launching?
Code:
Nokia-N800-23-14:/media/mmc1/Debs# tear |

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Updated, the same revision - better scrolling, less stuttering. Still isn't perfect though - I have to choose between frequent updates and perfect timing or less stuttering... :(

Im not sure what happened with the new tear build and webkit, but I used to be able to go to yahoo music video website and play videos and they would play pretty well. Now they stutter alot and move very slow since I updated. Also I cant seem to run the acid3 test anymore. A message shows up at the bottom of the page that says I have to have scripting enabled to use this test, but I do. A dialog box pops then up and wants me to download a file called "empty". When I hit cancel the test hits 18/100 then quits. I have uninstalled tear and the webkit and reinstalled, but I get the same results. Any ideas? T.I.A. |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
quick guess, its related to the download manager, and text/plain...
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Yeah, probably... :)
I can remove it of course... Vote :) The only minus is that you won't be able to download debs :) I can fix this later in the tap and hold menu when I'm able to do it of course :) |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
I'm loving Tear & think it's great (thank you) but my only annoyance is that it insists on setting /apps/osso/gtk/enable-accels upon each startup :)
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Yep, you've got me :) Tell me of a better way to tie accelerators with the menu... I'm annoyed by them too, but the other way is to handle shortcuts separately :(

Yeah, I feel your pain, I tore hair over trying to get my key-press-event signal to work :) but you know a lot more than me so I have faith in you ;) :p (just joking, I always thought it was a bug but now I understand the reasoning behind it, I can live with it :)) |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Last night i lost hours in tries to get GtkEntry to get selected on focus. Then I read that Nokia even removed the code that does it form Maemo Gtk... Worse than that something sweeps my selection after grab-focus and I can't do it manually... and no other focus events work (excluding the window_activate, but it returns null for which widget). Either I'm terribly wrong or the documentation about these things suckz big time...

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
on the topic of debs, when i use microb to download them, they are id'd as application/x-deb or something like that...
oh, and what about a history view thats a bit longer then the current 9 deep dashboard? hmm, seems like the target=_blank code have taken a hit. clicking links inhis forum that lead to external pages crashes tear... |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Actually lately the address completion is sorted by access time :)
As for the deb packages - these here are reported as application/x-debian-package http://repository.maemo.org/extras/p.../clucene-core/ But these as text/plain: http://bundyo.org/maemo/tear/ So its up to the server to lie (or know about deb files :)) |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
err, i added somethig to my post above while you where reading it...
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Hmm, yes, strange, I will look into it.
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
or the browser to satrt learning file types? microb sees all the debs on the tear server as application/x-deb...
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Ah, yes, mime type config, that later ;]
So, should I remove the text/plain hack? |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
probably, and rather get that mime type thing going ;)
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Okay then. Reuploaded Tear with the new window crash fix. :)
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
hmm, turning off images do not make the alt text appear...
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Text/plain is back :) And update.

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
