mmmmmm bacon flavoured data.

alas though, it was something completely different, nokia have already started stocking up on them:

though, I don't know its original capacity, I certainly hope they at least bring one replacement ;)

Let's talk stickers, hats, and shirts for now then we can see about some MicroUSB OTG adaptors later?

So, if I make some "Fixed in Fremantle" underwear, should I wear it on the outside of my pants? Or, wear no pants at all?

I love last year's t-shirt - the cut is great and much better than the usual "sack o' spuds" look you get with conference t-shirts, and I love the new logo, so the size was perfect for me.

Using the word fix in that context may have unintended interpretations...

Re: Maemo Summit & maemo.org merchandising

I'd like to suggest some clothing items and merchandising that are both cheap and not usually given out as conference goodies.
  • Socks - only 2 or 3 sizes needed, and nice socks with a nice logo would rock. I see custom socks from SockGuy retailing at $9 per pair, I imagine that we could order custom socks for around that price.
  • Bandana - these things can be used for lots of things - a scarf, a cravatte, or a bandana. They look pretty cool too. Custom printed at Bandanaman for around $2.50 per item.
  • Mugs - cheap, easy to print, use them every day. You can do mugs at CafePress or Zazzle. Zazzle appears to give better deals - mugs starting from $13 at both, but Zazzle gives a discount per item if you get a volume run (the plain mug would cost $10 each for 300 mugs

Outside of those, I can't imagine something I would use very often, unless it's related to my laptop, my mouse, my bike or running - best to make t-shirts, one other unusual but useful item, and avoid creating things which will end up in the bin. I'd really like the socks, but it seems like the mugs might be easier & more popular.

Dave.

Maemo is corrupting me.

Socks & mugs are definitely dneary++ worthy.

I like the bandana idea, +1 to that.

About the underpants, just thinking how the crowd would look if everyone would wear them on top of their clothing :-D

(goes without saying a hardware giveaway would be the best course of action).

a Maemo USB memory would be a very nice gadget :)

about hardware... well, I don't think Nokia is going to give it for free, but when it will be available I hope they will repeat the discount program.

The hardware comment wasn't a serious thought, I'm pretty sure the final hardware won't be available for the summit (but it would be nice to see a prototype).

It sure as hell better be. If Nokia hasn't managed to ship a device by the time October rolls around, there certainly isn't going to be much point discussing Harmattan then. Honestly, there isn't going to be much point in discussing anything at all, since they wont have a community anymore.

The thought of sitting in the summit with a battered old N810 running Diablo, trying to participate in Harmattan discussions when we haven't seen large swathes of Fremantle (oooh, say task switching) fills me with a deep dark dread.

Lets get this straight, I'm definitely *hoping* that we see hardware but I'm not that optimistic of seeing the final product. Lets hope I'm wrong.

I personally can't conceive Nokia running the second summit in a row without anything new to show there. At least I wouldn't like to be in in Quim's or Ari's shoes then...

I'd suggest a life geocaching event using Maemo devices on the summit (see my proposal for a talk). In relation to that a maemo geocoin would sure be fun.

This thread has gotten relatively long and we have new information about budget, etc., so let's start talking here about merchandise and designing the "content."

Thanks,
Tim
