Man, this is too fascinating, but I have to go do some work... Or do I?

God, I decided to kill you. Poof! It is done.

The fascinating part is, if you move the Mayan calendar origin to match the Egyptian Zep Tepi (beginning), then the end of that calendar no longer falls in December 2012 but exactly at the threshold of the Age of Aquarius.

Sing with me: "This is dawning of the age of Aquarius, aaaaaage of Aquarius. Aquarius. Aqqqqqqqqquarius!" :)

That's funny. The first words out of this philosophy teacher's mouth were, "If you knew when and where a black hole experiment was going to take place, what would you do?" First day of class, first class of the day, we all just sat there. It was one of those Simpson's silent moments. He then told us that we of course would do everything in our power to destroy it. I personally don't think self preservation beats apathy every time.

Re: Is 2012 Real????

If 2012 means anything, it means a transition. It most certainly (IMO) does not mean the end of the world or of civilization, etc. But it might mean the end of the present era and the start of something new. I don't expect anything abrupt, however. Just a gradual phase change, with this point in time being significant, but in a subtle way.

Gotta learn how to tap into the wisdom for this stuff to begin making sense. The intellect is too limited.

Re: Is 2012 Real????

A google search just turned up this quote:

Quote:

"The Hopi and Mayan elders do not prophesy that everything will come to an end. Rather, this is a time of transition from one World Age into another. The message they give concerns our making a choice of how we enter the future ahead. Our moving through with either resistance or acceptance will determine whether the transition will happen with cataclysmic changes or gradual peace and tranquility. The same theme can be found reflected in the prophecies of many other Native American visionaries from Black Elk to Sun Bear." - Joseph Robert Jochmans

My dog thinks the world is going to end this December 31...

That's the last page on the calender I have hanging in the kitchen.

He thinks this every year until I put up a new calender.

Yes. You are going to lose your penis in a freak corn shucking accident before the clock strikes midnight.

Do you think its due to lack of worry? Boredom? There is enough to worry ('problems'), daily survival was not easy in past either.

I think it is used as abstraction layer to develop (albeit false) certainty, and to make the 'unfathomable' somewhat 'understandable'. Ie. we don't know what the future holds for us versus the world will end in 2012. The latter creates certainty, and allows one to build a live upon with certainty. This is also why, when challenged, a person of a cult (= religion) will vigorously defend their religion instead of listening to arguments. If only one aspect of their religion may be wrong, the entire basis of their religion (e.g. 'God's word is truth') becomes shaky hence a fundamental aspect of their life upon which that person built is also suddenly challenged, and the emotional shock that'd bring is by all means evaded.

The other reason is control of the masses, and destroying competitive cults one way or another. Also useful to hide the roots of your own religion if yours is based upon theirs. One can do that by calling them names such as 'witch', 'satanist', 'pagan', 'heathen' even though some of these words have originally an other meaning they now bear a different, negative connotation. Same for something as Swastika. Meanwhile, start the indoctrination at parental and school level. Brainwash early and you have them for life, and a parent would not want an other-religion for their child, so give them your own instead.

My crystal ball tells me lots of people with authority in their specific hierarchy will say 'I told you 2012 was BS' after we're in the year 2013.

Now integration of that with Rapier would be awesome :D does not include the death of 32-bit computing though.

One could say don't release this to general public because it will destabilize society but one could also say they have the right to know. It is a difficult question to answer, very much related to ethics and self-interest. In some situations it isn't desired to teach someone (or whole society) a fact because the prospected outcome is seen as negative, and cannot be worked around to become positive while still teaching the fact although a marketing drone may be able to mitigate the negative effect as much as possible. Perhaps, the best solution is to find the best marketing drones on earth and discuss the matter. These top notch marketing drones tend to reside in politics... :D

Re: Is 2012 Real????

its straight forward

if we believe that the world will end based on some old dudes- we also have to believe that there were either much more advanced than us(goes against everything and basic evolotion), or magical(goes against everything)

i wouldnt be surprised if its not just an anti recession scam- to get people to live abit and spend on stuff, and not worry about wars/climate change/poloution/poverty/weather etc etc..

and if the world blows up in 2012 it will be either a random event , or an event that noone on earth knew or knows about..

the hair up my nose is more valid than 2012 predictions

what would be funny was if the day before the mayan empire came to an end the 2nd calender with 2013+ was commisioned but never built.
theres millions of theory's why calender ended but its human nature to a;lways promote the ones what predict doom by misinterpreting evidence and selling it as near fact as they can.

I predict the world will end somewhere between 2012 and 9012. I know it's a pretty wide gap. I call it gross prophet margin. (And so does Scott Adams).

The Chances are around 1 in 250,000, so that is very very very very unlikely to happen.

Stop fearing your future, the only way the world will end is if us humans continue poluting this world.

(if 2012 is real, it doesn't matter - we will all die)

That probability will change; this sort of prediction is anything but exact. Current paths can be perturbed in ways that are difficult to model.

And the fact that the Earth has been struck many, many times means it can certainly happen again. Thank God we have that crater-riddled moon as a partial shield, eh?
