Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
I rang the Nokia flagship store in London earlier and spoke to a guy who said that they would be getting the n900 in on Thurs, but by Fri at the very latest.
Managed to get myself all excited and rushed down there to sign up as waiting until the 3rd is driving me up the wall. Got in there and the guy doing contracts (Jon) is a MPD employee :-( I did have an interesting conversation with him though - unless you have ordered a sim free handset from Nokia directly, then NO-ONE will have a n900 before MPD in the UK. He was absolutely adamant about that, and was sure that MPD would be getting the n900 at exactly the same time that the London flagship store would be. They are hoping for delivery this week (Thurs/Fri) but it isn't certain at the moment - its just hoping based on what Nokia are saying, but they have already delayed it once and he said it's possible that they might again. One interesting thing he said was that if the Nokia store get them in and MPD haven't, then I could go see him and I might be able to switch my order and they would try and price match it. But he did again state that the moment the NFS had them, MPD would as well, apparently Nokia have a legal obligation to ensure that MPD are the first... He also reckoned that the 3rd was a conservative estimate - take that as you will?!? I want my bloody phone - Im 38 and behaving like a 6yr old on xmas eve  |

I have read so much stuff now I'm just gonna assume I'll get it by the 3rd, if it comes earlier then it's a bonus. I too have read somewhere that MPD were expecting them Thursday and be ready to dispatch by Mon 30th. God knows how reliable that is and I can't even remember where I read/heard that, so don't take it as fact! |

I really hope that the 3rd Dec was a conservative estimate and that I'll have it all charged and active on my T-Mobile account by the time the 3rd Dec dawns upon the world (in the UK - just to be clear! lol) |

[QUOTE=edgedemon;388237]For those that have stopped watching the UK thread through jealousy at all the people getting their shipping mails, this was posted on page 51
I work at the Nokia Retail Store (Guildford), we have been informed that it will have it in our stocks on Thursday morning (means extra shift) and dispatch will start on Monday (30th November). We have been under lots of stress from the phone calls we received, but please do not hesitate to contact (01483 303071). Steve, Guildford, Nokia Retail Store worker. The strange thing is that I called this shop and they have never heard of a Steve!! |

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Just want to pay less overall, 12 months and 300 minutes on reflection is a better idea for me than 18 months 700 minutes, as I don't seem to make that many calls now and want to move more to voip. £465.11 against £665.56.
And if the phone disappoints I'll be eBaying it and getting a Droid (Moto Milestone) on the 7th Dec with the proceeds SIM free... so I can still spread the cost. |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Do you need to use strength to take off the back of your N900?
|
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
I wish MPD would take down the bloody 'delivery during late November' sign from the N900 page. I mean, for God's sake, you've gone to great pains to inform everyone that it won't be delivered until the 3rd December, but you are still advertising a November delivery....aargh, they make me mad :(

The question was whether I could amend my pre-order when the T-Mobile orders are (presumed) out of quota. |

Also someone else has tried to change and were told its a no-go, you can only change by cancelling and re-ordering a currently listed contract. |

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Right guys we've got nothing to do till 3rd Dec. If we start reading other threads we'll either get pissed off or convince ourselves that the N900 is full of bugs.
So I'll start I spy with my little eye, something beginning with.........................N |

I was trying to add web'n'talk to my order which wasn't available when I first ordered - so I was actually trying to upgrade my package but still a no go. I'm going to see if they'll let me add it on when I activate otherwise it's going back and I'll rethink the whole thing. |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Yeah I'm sure you can add web'n'walk on to any existing t-mobile contract, standard, plus or max levels, through the t-mobile website or customer services.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Ok, here's a little game to pass the time - since the N900 can take a 16G microSD card, let's see who can find the cheapest source. Rules are:
1. Online retailers only, so if you find some in your local 99p shop,. that doesn't count 2. You have to include the cost of next business day delivery 3. UK based suppliers only 4. Memory cards must be new, i.e. no tat from fleabay Ready, steady, GO..... |

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
So, what is the status of the stock that should be coming to MPD? Is this going to be coming from the Netherlands like the stock for those who pre-ordered from Nokia? Any idea when it will be arriving at their offices?
Basically, anyone know when we should start bugging the hell out of MPD again? |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Im suspecting Fri
Based on the conversation I had with the MPD guy at the NFS in London, MPD will get their stock the same time it hits the Nokia retail shops. The moment it get there, Im on the phone to MPD and maybe cancelling my order and buying in store.. |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
I've been posting in the other UK thread but have been equally dismayed by UPS tracking notification, with peoples' N900s being no more than 4 miles from their homes! Think I'll switch to this one seeing as I'm also an MPD customer...
Just to add what MPD have told me (think I posted a webchat in the other thread), T-Mobile contracts will be honoured but you can't change anything unless you want to change to a Voda contract. They're essentially selling us a SIM-free phone with a contract from a company that they take commission on, so don't see why they wouldn't honour it. When I asked them about delivery yesterday, they still told me the 3rd, as with the emails they sent out, but said it was possible they would come earlier... I'd assume that the MPD batch are also on their way to the UK, but instead of being sent straight to us, they're going to be sent to the stores and then re-packaged and shipped out. Bearing in mind that no contracts have been activated for us yet, and that they have over 500 preorders, I can see how it might take them a while to get all these phones out... Grr... |
