Re: Headphones problems
So I un-installed:
Ogg support FM Radio Player Recorder backed up the n900 and restored system defaults. And guess what, my n900 headphone still didn't work. while the headset plays audio on my n810 I couldn't test the mike (or the mike wasn't supported or didn't work) I have seen slight moment in the headset jack, so i have ordered a replacement and will test that later this week. for now I think it is a production defect in the headset jack. |

Re: Headphones problems
im disappointed i cant use my palm pre headset on my N900, i just get a bunch of noise. i really like the non-isolating type for when im at work, and also the even cord length from the mic to the bud. im guessing the palm headset has the mic and ground pins in the same order as the iphone ones? is there anyway to tell witch headsets will work with the N900 while browsing?

Re: Headphones problems
New headset solved the problem.

Re: Headphones problems
I replaced the WH-205. Other headsets worked and the WH-205 worked on my n810 (without mic support) the new WH-205 solved all my problems.

Re: Headphones problems
As reported on another thread, you can use the stock headphones available for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and they work perfectly for the Nokia N900, including the mic for phone calls. You can pick these up for peanuts on ebay and the good thing is that they are two-piece and you can plug your own headphones into the mic.

Re: Headphones problems
Just thought Id let everybody know that it seems headphones with a mic in wont work on the n900..Ive tested the following..
Blackberry headphones=no Iphone headphones=no Ipod headphones=YES, because they have no mic Standard ones=Yes, basically as long as they dont have a mic.. hope it helps.. |
Re: Headphones problems
I got the same problem with my N900. It doesn't work anymore.

Re: Headphones problems
@dreadnought: do you mean the HPM-75J ?
If yes, does the button for receive/end phone call work with the n900? |
Re: Headphones problems
Some thinking from me: im playing wit my pc's soundcard and see that i can use my mic-in as center speaker out, and some other connectors with the same adjustable out or input.
So i tought; my realy expensive headset is compatible with the apple crap :( so no with my n900! Isn't there a way to switch mic and speaker inside the jack in the n900 just with a software change? |

It's really unfortunate that most decent after market headphones are now iPhone compatible rather than Nokia compatible - suspect Nokia need to get in line with Apple, as much as that may suck. Or bundle an Apple compliant adapter with every Nokia device, something like this (although designed to convert the Apple 3.5mm socket into a "Universal" [ie. Nokia] socket - most likely by swapping pins 3 and 4 - it should automatically work the other way when connected into a Universal socket by again swapping pins 3 and 4, right?). :( Was thinking of getting an Ultimate Ears + Mic headset, but since they're iPhone compatible it would be a waste of time using them with an N900 (or any Nokia for that matter). Total nonsense. |
Re: Headphones problems
I have the same problem with my N900... i didn't drop it or anything of sorts... i just tried to use the head phones and nothing... it happened to me already so i sent my N900 back for a replacement and i was happy. but then several weeks later bammm same dam thing... what the H E double hockey stick.now i am trying to see if i can get yet another replacement and if i don't i will have to buy an HTC HD 2. don't let me down nokia. it has to be a hardware issue maybe a switch inside the jack.

Re: Headphones problems
or maybe a N98... mmmmm

Re: Headphones problems
so what happened to this thread? no posts for three months!
I just started having the problem where N900 doesn't recognize the stock Nokia headphone! That head phone works in my PC, and other headphones are recognized by N900. They closed the bug!!! So where do we go from here? |
Re: Headphones problems
Heres the adapter.
http://www.kvconnection.com/product-p/km-354r2m-r3f.htm If you find one cheaper please repost, I got my headphones for the same price. ugh. |
Re: Headphones problems
I'm having the same problem. For me it begins whenever I call a Verizon landline phone and goes away when I re-flash the phone. When the problem is present I can still use the headset (WH-205) as headphones by inserting the plug into the N900 very, very slowly (and most often I have to do so a large number of times before it works) but the microphone does not work and telephone calls go through the phone as they would without a headset plugged in (even when the headset is plugged in). This means that in the car I cannot use a wired headset as a handsfree device and that means in my state of Massachusetts it would be illegal to use my N900 while driving (I have lost numerous bluetooth headsets and am tired of paying for them so they're right out).
For safety sake it is a problem which should be fixed. |
Re: Headphones problems
I'm having the same problem. My N900 can not detect ori headphone, but can detect normal headphone. Any solution?
