Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
Does anyone have newest iNES deb from devel repository? It should have feature to change buttons.
|
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
I'm respectfully requesting that anyone mirroring classic-gaming-wallpapers to please remove the package until we know what's going to happen with the Nintendo issue, thank you.
|
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
Yeah, it may be the most "hot" package right now, since emulators don't have legality problems (at least I think).
|
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
^Secondling what Zerojay is saying. A little patience now and with any luck this will all get sorted out. Impatience now might result in the whole project being short down and never properly finished.
It's Sunday - please, please wait till next week. |
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
Since they are deb.files i take it they have to been extracted some how? And or in the n900 later?
|
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
.deb files shouldn't need to be unpacked manually, they're input for dpkg. If you do want to disassemble one by hand you can open the .deb with ar, which will give you several tarballs, then you want the contents of data.tar.gz.
If that doesn't help, try just waiting for a bit - I'm sure they'll all wind up in a properly apt-able repo again at some point. |
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
Please return all back! I will die without a SNES emulator and GBA!!! Ready to donate these projects!
|
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
No need to write in big bright red letters.
Read a bit the related threads, they'll take a decisiona bout it the next week. And even if they can't host emulators on maemo.org anymore, I'm sure there will be another way to support them. |

Really though, everyone needs to stop panicking and take a reality check - this isn't a big issue and will be sorted out eventually. |

They've only been temporarily removed as a precautionary maneuver, just incase it does turn sour. The developers haven't been shot. I'm sure everything will be back to normal soon when the press finds something new to babble about. :) |
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
I bought a Nokia N900 in Moscow for 1000 $ including the order that would be my child could play games on the LCD 47 in which I played in my childhood))) Bundle of N900 + WiiRemote + DrNokSnes is a miracle! Pity she did not quite work correctly ...

It is important not only that we can hide files on the free hosting providers and what would these projects develop further!

Being able to play emulators of old games on the n900 is one of many reasons i'm thinking of buying it.
|
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
I'll probably get crucified for this but yes, I think we should bring back the emulators

Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
can't we simply upload the source code into reps' and do it on Gentoo way? (Compile the binary on device)
|
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
When Nokia posted that 30 second emulator clip, I thought they either knew what they were doing, or the same people that organized the N900 launch also gave the OK for that 30 second clip ;)

Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
Could someone tell me how to send a personal message
|
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
Part of the problem is that the files you're asking for are unfinished. If you want them to be completed and compiled properly, please, please be patient. Swopping them around behind Nokia/Nintendo's back isn't going to advance the project.
Last I looked lawyers didn't work Sundays in either Finland or the USA. So we aren't going to be able to get this sorted tonight. Find something else to do for an evening... read a book, watch X-factor ( ) or go for a walk. A few days won't hurt you - but pushing for it Right Now might have exactly the opposite effect of what you want. |

Why would a mod close this thread. Admittedly I am new here but I figured forums were for people to bounce around ideas and discuss things.
There are 28 people who voted in favor for the topic of this thread. Just because you disagree doesn't mean the topic should be closed. |

this site is not as free as it first looks to outsiders. nokia use the community as a front to try show they are serious about open source, open community's etc, but if you look deeper its still Nokia pulling the strings behind the scenes I should of gone into more detail what i meant when writing my comment earlier, i dont expect senior members here to agree but its the truth |
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
Ahh the hassle of another fruitless round in the War on Emulators. Just gotta run the emulators in DosBox now ^_~

Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
What part of Zerojay's plea to take the mirrors down did you miss? Or are you determined to do this regardless of consequences for Nokia, Maemo and the community (let alone the person who wrote the app)?

The community has a large say in the success of the devices, in a variety of ways. But-- Nokia owns the infrastructure and funds the venture. Keeping the roles and responsibilities distinct is important to understanding how and why things happen around here. No one here with any real say has ever misrepresented what's what. Period. |
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
I managed to get the emulators before removal from the repositories, but when I try to access the emulator menus or play a rom, the app exits out back to home screen.
I click the top bar to got to the menus- exits out I click on a rom, same thing Does this for all three emulators. Roms work on Dash, G1, Droid and Dingoo, but it seems the problem is not the roms. |
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
Does anybody know why Nokia is having problems with Nintendo and not some of the other system makers?
Ubuntu also has emulators in the repositories, the gp2x wiz also advertises the use of of emulators, and there is even a javascript implementation of a NES emulator. Why is this only a problem on Maemo? |
Re: Bring back nintendo emulators !!!
Quote:
It's also important to note that emulators themselves are not illegal. Roms are. The problem is the Nokia employee advertised playing classic (Nintendo) games on the n900 in a Nokia sponsored Youtube video. Very, very dumb move. Had the Nokia employee advertised using the emulators to play some homebrew then Nintendo would have no legal ground. |
