Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
The only thing I regret is that there is no other device like it, I'd be awesome to have an upgrade (like the N950...)

Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
The only regret I have is not buying it earlier
|
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
I dont regret buying it, brilliant device, love it.
Nokia on the other hand should regret ditching it, big mistake IMO. |
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
One of the best buy of my life. The incredible thing is that before I new it existed, I was considering buying a Samsung Omnia Pro B7610. Only it's lack of availlability made me shop further and stumble upon the N900. And I've been oh so glad since.

Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
Nope! No regrets. Now I love it even more, thanks to this community for the great instructions and apps to make it better than any other smart phone.
|
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
If I had any sort of regrets or doubts in purchasing N900, I wouldn't have bought subsequent N900. Truth be told that apart from N900 being released to the public, there's no other device quite like N900.

Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
no f__king way. I bought 2 (one brand new, one second hand) and never had any problems with either. neither had warranty either......!!!!!

Hello no !
I'm loving it more and more... eveyday :D |
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
No ! It might be the best thing i've ever bought. No, it is the best thing i've ever bought :]
|
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
I regret not having buying it earlier too :)
I'd not change N900 even for iPhone 4 or Samsung Galaxy SII (if I had limitless budget I'd buy iPhone after all... to sell it and buy N900 :) ) Best phone ever 4me. In it's time K800 was great but in our time, N900 exceeds all the iPhones and Galaxys 4me. AFAIK no other phone can run Debian apps. So IMHO nothing but a successor can withstand with N900. EDIT: A funny possibility of an ad of N900 came in my mind Quote:

Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
I love this phone despite its downsides such as it gets laggy time to time. After ownig a bunch of Symbian phones from Nokia and getting different models each few months I bought N900 as my first touchscreen phone from ebay after the price dropped a little. After 15 months I still have it and cant imagine a device that could replace it except N950 which is anyway not for general public :( Of course Iam going to get N9, but I feel that I will miss the keyboard so badly...so maybe I decide to stick with this amazing device for rest of my life ;)
its just complete disaster this elop/wp7 thing |

Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
i dont regret buying it two years ago, but i do regret that i dont use it for all its worth. i guess what i wanted then and what i want now are different. i see my wife with her shiny iphone 4 and how quick and easy she gets around her phone and how reponsive it is. my N900 takes much longer to do almost every task. i almost refuse to even use it as a camera anymore if my wifes iphone is around. over all i HAVE been happy, just feeling its not the super phone it used to be or i supossed to be anymore. reasearching now on mx nesxt phone.. IOS or Android...

Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
I reget it. NOT
(couldn't resist, someone probably made that before) |
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
I love my N900, don't know when there will be a phone to match it so I will soldier on. I did have to fix the USB bt that was an easy surface mount solder job for a guy who builds ham radios for a hobby. It runs Debian, I can use my regular ham radio applications with it. The plethora of standard input/output options means I have used it as a desktop machine on vacation with a bluetooth keyboard, mouse, and TV set, a dream from the 80's. I managed to squeeze 10 years form the Sharp Zaurus SL-5500, hope I wont need to keep my N900 that long. OTOH I don't see an open Linuxy replacement on the horizon yet.

Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
Buying my n900 was the best investment I've made in a phone. My first n900 had some touch screen issues which, after a few services, I got a full refund for. I then bought a new N900 for 200 $ less then the original one and now that my new n900 had been in on service i got a E7 in replacement that i will crave swapped for a N9 in a couple of weeks. :D
Best 600 $ i've ever spendt! |
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
well i have 2x N900 now so can't say i regret buying a N900, been looking around but nothing still really says YES!!!
only cool tech but not in one compleate package, like a new galaxy with a 5.3" screen with a res of 1280x800!!!! but still missing all the functions +OS that the N900 has. |
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
Is it better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all?
...That's how I feel about my unfortunately retired N900, when I compare it to the current competition. |
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo regret................. :)

Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
I came over to the N900 from an iPhone 1... Regret? What could I possibly regret?
|
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
Can you 'make' any program you want (except GL maybe but still possible to port to GLES) on any other phone? I had a dream like 10 years ago of having a full linux box in my pocket. Nokia with N900 made it come true. I'm seriously thinking about buying another one as there are no viable alternatives currently. So to answer your question: no.

Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
No regrets whatsoever.
Right now, I've had the N900 for 1 year and 9 months. This is a milestone for me since I've been a 5-6 phone a year person for the past 10 years. The only bad thing about the N900 is that all other phones from now on will be judged based on its capabilities. |
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
No regrets whatsoever. I have concerns that I'll struggle to find a worthy and fully functional replacement when the time comes.
|
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
no regrets here as well.
..and even if I wanted to replace it (or put it aside cause I'm not selling my N900) I wouldn't be able to find a device that betters the maemo5 handset in most aspects. the N900 is one of a kind. only the HD2 comes close |
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
Yeah, so much I got another one... :)
|
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
No regrets whatsoever. I've had the device since it first came out and have bought 4 total. And so many thanks to this community, I have learned so much. Just recently learning to create apps using monodevelop on the phone and have learned so much about Linux and still more to learn and explore.
And I own a Apple Macbook and since getting the N900, I have stopped using my laptop for over 1 yr now. Only needing the laptop to reflash the N900's and the occassional use of the Handbrake software and cd burner on the laptop. Luckily for most part using transmission for bittorrents gets me most of what I need. |

I retired mine because after having an unexpected a bath, it did not work very well. Wi-Fi, bluetooth, GPS were not working. 3G were working only sporadically. And the thing would only turn on when connected to a charger. Plus the battery ran hot. It's not retired because it's outdated, it's retired because it's not very functional any more. As I said... I've loved and lost. |
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
My N900 is definitely the best hardware investment I've ever made. =)
(and I've bought a lot of hardware). The N900 is the first smartphone I've kept longer than 6 months :D |
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?

Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
If only it supported AT&T's network with full 3G speeds... EDGE is not a great speed to surf the web.

Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
If I may, I would like to ask something quite similar as to what OP asked. Would you regret buying an N900 today?
I might buy 1 in a few days, but I would like some feedback from the active community. I´m 100% open-source fanatic, which is the strongest point I have towards the N900. Thanx! |
Re: Anyone regret buying N900?
..lol..other Nokia phones maybe... but Nokia N900, the more I use.. the more I like it..
